I managed to get hold of a copy, but I think I'm missing some pieces. It says I should have 49 counters, but I've only got 47.

Here's the breakdown of what came in the box. Can someone help?

51 stands for cards / 10 sided die

One rulebook

One streamlined set of rules

One reference card

One board

16 character cards - Hicks, Ripley etc

47 tiny counter things, with the breakdown:

15 counters with people on

Two different counters for Ripley (in addition to the 15)

20 alien counters

3 facehuggers

one alien queen counter

4 'fire' counters

one turn counter

one door counter

I just checked and I have the same amount of counters that you do (20 aliens, 3 facehuggers, etc) so you should be all set.

Thanks for looking for me. The odd thing is the rulebook says 49 pieces and, if you look at the files containing new versions of counters, there are four huggers and five fire pieces.

Here's the file: http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/23762

Did you get yours new?

I have just checked my copy, and it differs from yours and spectre2007's.

I have 49 counters, which include 1 additional alien counter and an additional fire counter. I only have 40 plastic bases to hold the stand up counters, and I have two 10 sided dice. My copy was purchased new, so there must have been packing errors from box to box.

As far as I remember, all the counters/standees were in perforated sheets - unless there were different editions with different sheets, there can't have been different numbers from one game to another!

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well.

That there might be a difference in dice and stands could make sense; loose pieces, packed quickly.

However unless the same game ended up with different print runs and sheets, as you mentioned, it's unlikely you'd have different counter numbers.

This is all very odd.

I agree with your totals, except I have 54 stands. Did any come with the expansion? I don't think so, I think that was just a book & another perforated sheet of cards - the middle-sized ones I have.

OK.

The manual says 49 counters and doesn't, AFAIK, mention the number of character cards.

The back of the box says 47 full colour counters and 19 colour character cards.

The 16 character cards I have:

Drake

Hudson

Wierzbowski

Apone

Dietrich [Who the hell are these people? I remember Riple, Hicks and Vasquez. And Chet from Weird Science.]

Hicks

Frost

Crowe

Ripley [the character card shows regular ripley, not cyborg loader ripley]

Bishop

Gorman

Ferro

Spunkmeyer

Newt

Burke Wounded

Vasquez

I don't have the expansion (unfortunately), so I don't know if stands are included (the BGG listing doesn't seem to indicate any).

How the counter numbers can be off, I don't know. Is everybody sure they didn't lose a couple?

It's all very odd. I'm almost positive - and I've done my digging - that 49 is the correct number of counters and 16 the correct number of marines. So I'm certainly missing a couple of counters.

It'd be quite interesting to find someone from Leading Edge and ask them. I'll have a look at its BGG entry now, but on the offchance, does anyone know of an LE person that uses BGG regularly?

49 counters + 16 character cards seems to be the right amount. There are only 16 main characters in the movie, so I'd wonder who'd be portrayed on the remaining cards. It's obviously a misprint on the box.
