Hmm. That's a tough one. I'm assuming you don't have a table at the campfire, so nothing with a board. Maybe something like Werewolf, where you just have identity cards? But I'm not sure how well that plays with smaller groups.

I would say "Bang!". You even drink beer in the game to heal. It is pretty light and you get to shoot at each other, what else could you want?

I would second the suggestion for Werewolf or The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow, as it doesn't need any components...

Maybe the new werewolf-ish game from Andy Looney: Are You the Traitor?

Werewolf might be quite poor with only 5 players (4 players + 1 narrator). AYTT? is supposed to be playable with as few as 4 players.

Monopoly, chuck it on the fire, laugh and have a beer.

No but seriously, will you have any kind of playing surface? Boardgames while sitting on logs around a fire seems like a hard thing to do otherwise...

How about ? Black Stories

Plays well in a group of 5, with one person beeing the narrator.

Another vote for Bang!. Lot's of fun but a table of some sorts is suggested or at least something small for each player to put their own cards on.

Once Upon a Time: The Storytelling Card Game with it's expansion Once Upon a Time: Dark Tales.

The stories get ridiculous, and all you need is a hand of cards, and space for two draw decks. We've done this one camping and had a blast.

Werewolf is a great campfire game, but it wouldn't work with five people. With one person serving as moderator, that leaves enough players for exactly one turn before the game is over.

Maybe Jungle Speed or No Thanks!?

Washable Games Geeklist these can work around a campfire, as they are plastic and won't get ruined with moisture/dirt/beer

This might be the way to go with only five players. And I'll bet some of the arguments on who is/isn't the traitor will get pretty interesting once the beer starts flowing.
