The game page is now up for Pandemic Express (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/57139) a fast playing, dice-based, cut-down version of Pandemic.

So please print it out and give it a go, any feedback more than welcome.

Also would be great if people could create some custom maps/scenarios. You can have up to 24 cities on your map, so give it a go!

Thanks
Andy

Well, none of the other "express" games have hit any trouble as far as I know. If z-man have an issue then I assume they would contact BGG and myself to get the game removed from the sites. Which I know I wouldn't hesitate to do, and nor would BGG I assume.

Legally speaking, it's only the name/logo that could potentially be issues. You can't copyright mechanics (only your wording of the rules) and in any event the mechanics are slightly different due to the express format.

Hopefully z-man will take the view that only a few dozen people are ever likely to download pandemic express and it's not going to affect sales of the full game in any way.

In an ideal world they'd publish it as a stand-alone, low cost game

Usually its a case of if its "for profit" or not, and it depends if boardgamegeek.com is for profit or not.

Keep in mind "Just because everyone else is doing it" isnt a defense.

I would imagine tho that most derivative games are likely to generate more sales than lower them. Especially in this case since the game requires 14 cubes of each colour.

I do agree it is a murky area, but personally, I do like the look of the express version.

Looks cool to me, I am printing it up - when do the 2-4 person rules come out is my only question?
