I was wondering if someone could compare these dice games:

Airships, Dice Town, Alea Iacta Est and Boomtown.

I have tried To Court a King and found it boring....I would like to add a dice game to my collection, but I don't know which one.

I am looking for something FUN, fairly easy to teach and a game that has some strategy (not just luck).

Any comments would be helpful.

If you found To Court boring (like I did), these games are exciting dice games.

Someone in my group already owns Roll Through the Ages. I think that it is an interesting game, but I am not sure that it is fun.

Anyway I am looking for something my group doesn't own.

I've heard good things about Dice Town. Airships is just OK to me.

For 2 player only you may want to look at:
Burgen Land

Does Airships have good replayability? How long is a typical game?

Dicetown is a blast, but you have to enjoy the poker theme to like it.

I feel the same about To Court the King as you.

In my collection, my favorite dice games are Dicetown and Yspahan.

Dicetown is a good filler, lighthearted, and generally fun. Everytime I have played, everyone was laughing and having a great time!

Yspahan is a medium-light strategy game that I have a hard time turning down. A more serious theme than Dicetown and more of a strategy euro rather than a dice fest.

If you are looking for interaction, go Dicetown. If you are looking for strategy, go Yspahan.

I used to own Boomtown a long time ago, but I didn't think that it was a dice game. Either way, I wasn't sad to trade it away.

Good luck!

I would prefer something that can be played by more than 2 players.

If you don't like To Court the King, you probably won't like Airships either, although I like Airships better (the graphics are cleaner and more functional, the gameplay smoother, and somehow it feels less luck dependent than To Court the King, although with dice, there is always a component of luck).

Boomtown isn't really a dice game. You roll the dice to determine who's mines produce gold, similar to Settlers of Catan where you roll dice to determine which hexes produce resources. Boomtown is great fun, though, as long as you can deal with the luck factor involved with dice.

I haven't played Dice Town or Alea Iacta East.

Other dice games I enjoy are Pass the Pigs, Can't Stop, Perudo (Liar's Dice). Pass the Pigs and Can't Stop are push-your-luck type games. Perudo is a bluffing game.

For something "meatier" (relatively speaking), our group also enjoys Manila, which is a gambling game, where you place bets against the odds of dice rolls.

I have really enjoyed Kingsburg. It's a simple game, but the dice mechanic is pretty interesting. Each round every player rolls 3 die and they have to use the results to influence one of the king's advisers.

So if you rolled 3, 5, 5 you could put all of them on the #13 advisers or one on the #10 and the #3...or on the #3 and the #5 (and lose the other 5). Each player must influence a unique adviser so with more players you can block people out on advisers they want. There is a little more to it than I briefly explained, but it's a great game. It's easy to learn and things go pretty quickly, plus there is almost zero downtime. For a more in depth look check out this video review... http://www.mevio.com/episode/96947/Episode+5+Kingsburg/?mode...

Of all the games you have listed the two that look the most interesting are Alea Iacta Est and Dice Town. Both have unique themes and great artwork. However, I constantly see comments about people raving about how fun Dice Town is and it really makes me want to try it.

These three reviews in particular have me dying to try this one out...

Tom Vasel in particular makes this game appear to be ridiculously fun!

Thanks everyone!

A bit late, just getting around to reading some threads I had bookmarked.
I would also suggest Ra Dice, my wife and I rather enjoy that game.
Hope you are enjoying Dice Town! It is quite an awesome game!
May I suggest pimping your copy once you get it by replacing the money with poker chips? It adds a nice feel to it!
