Okay, here's my report on my pork n beans.

This was a can of Morrisons Value Baked Beans And Sausages. Morrisons is my local supermarket and value is their cheapo brand. I had previously enjoyed a can of Asda's cheapo PnBs and so wanted to experiment with a locally bought product.

The beans were good, solid, and a satisfying quantity. Not too many, not too few. They heated up well and retained their heat long enough whilst being consumed.

The tomato sauce had a strong BBQ flavour, which I disliked. It did not say BBQ flavour on the can and so I feel mislead. I contrast this with the previous Asda product, which had no BBQ flavour.

The sauce was also quite sweet, which was not unpleasant.

There were 8 sausages, which I considered to be good value. On this occasion, I fished them out and grilled them whilst heating the beans. This was an experiment on my part, and not officially sanctioned by Morrisons. They grilled okay, but only browned a little before I served the beans.

Eating, I have to say that I found the sausages to be lack-lustre. There was no particular consistency or noticeable flavour to them. Of the pork and beans combo, the sausages came out worst on this run.

Scoring.

Beans
Sauce
Sausages
Value

Overall, a so-so experience for me. Not as good as the Asda PnB, but edible, and the beans themselves were okay. But I will be trying other brands before returning to Morrisons Value Baked Beans And Sausages.

I do not work for Morrisons nor any Pork n Beans producer. This was an independent research project and received no funding from outside bodies.

"So from then on, it was pork and beans."
"I don't know if that's entirely healthy."

You forgot to add in the gas resultant.

Also have you tried or do you like beans with molasses... I find them a much nicer taste and they give the house a lovely smell as well. Oh and beans with cheese smokies are lovely as well.

I only just ate them, gimme a break. My bowels don't work that fast. Beans are good roughage though.

We don't have beans with molasses here, that I know of. We don't have molasses. We have golden syrup and treacle.

Cheese is out for me, lactose intolerant that I am.

In America, Pork and Beans refers to a can of beans in sauce with a small cube of inedible pork fat floating in it.

You lucky limey.
