I bought my copy of SH last weekend and I've been on the fence for the past few days about buying an additional set of floor tiles. Would these be necessary for anything other than massive homebrewed hulks?

I know the expansions for older editions of SH added tiles, but I've been under the impression that they were specialty tiles (like the 5x5 tile that keeps popping up in this forum) and not simply more of the same. Is this the case? I'd love to be able to run missions from the old expansions / the campaign book once I've worn out the mission in the 3rd ed. box, but I want to be sure that I've got the requisite tiles and doors. Anybody help me out with this? Thanks!

The tiles from the expansion are different. Most notably the genestealer expansion which has corridors of 3 spaces. So a second set won't help you play those missions. But I've seen those tiles on ebay and you can probably make them yourself without much trouble.

You can already make some rather huge maps with one set of tiles. Try placing them all on a table to see if you have more available space before spending additional money.

Go here to find THE program to help you design new maps with the tiles you have, or download and print more.

I found this program does have GIFs of all the tiles, but they're not high enough resolution to print, unless I'm looking in the wrong spot. Of course you could scale them in an image editor, but then they would just look soupy.

The author did create some PDFs of printable tiles (air ducts), but nothing printable from the base game, methinks..

If you look around, you can find excellent tiles from all 3 editions, including the expansions all remade in the 3ed style.

*edit* Or, just click on this link for ajfel's files and download them from there: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/files/boardgame/all?username=aj...
