I'm not really, it's just that I can't help thinking of the old Clash song when I see yet more hype about Space Hulk (third edition). Am I the only one feed up with this game dominating the geek?

It worked fine as a PC game many years ago, and I have played the original, but time has moved on. It's not the best thing since sliced bread, so can we please have our geek back please?

All together now, "I'm so bored with bl&$£y Space Hulk" snore

Are you serious? Do you realise the Space Hulk frenzy is about half that of Agricola's about a year ago?

Now and then, a new shiny thing, sometimes for eurolovers, sometimes for ameritrashers, come singing along, sweeping the floor with the other games. That's how the Geek is. I like it that way.

So no, I'm not bored with neither Space Hulk or this trend that probably won't go away.

Or perhaps I shouldn't feed the troll?

No, just Alanis Morissette (and she's Canadian)

[Edit ...]

A euro-gamer discovered Space Hulk
And died when he saw a sprue
It's number #7 on the geek, curse you
It's ameritrash, don't sulk

Isn't it ironic ... don't you think

It's an AT title in the top ten
It's a breath of air on the geek
It's a great game people want to hate
Who would've thought ... it's got figures

Hmm, I'll give up on song-writing and go back to game designing!

actually I find the "oh god I'm soooo tired of Space Hulk hype" stuff much more annoying.

I don't really care too much about Space Hulk but there is plenty of other stuff about on the geek to look at...

It was a reference to a song by the Clash. Which does exactly what it complains about, promotes the object of it's scorn. It seemed appropriate.

The Clash - I'm So Bored With The U.s.a. Lyrics

(strummer/jones)

Yankee soldier
He wanna shoot some skag
He met it in cambodia
But now he cant afford a bag

Yankee dollar talk
To the dictators of the world
In fact its giving orders
An they cant afford to miss a word

Im so bored with the u...s...a...
But what can I do?

Yankee detectives
Are always on the tv
cos killers in america
Work seven days a week

Never mind the stars and stripes
Lets print the watergate tapes
Ill salute the new wave
And I hope nobody escapes

Im so bored with the u...s...a...
But what can I do?

Move up starsky
For the c.i.a.
Suck on kojak
For the usa

Please explain to me how making a Space Huylk thread about the fact that you are sick of threads about Space Hulk makes any sense at all. Seriously...

The game itself isn't important. Spending time intellectually jousting with likeminded folks is the real reason to game.

By talking about it and starting a new thread, you're feeding the hype even more.

If you genuinely don't want to see more about Space Hulk, don't talk about Space Hulk.

My feeling on Space Hulk is simple: if it's a game that lots of people enjoy playing, that's awesome. It may or may not be my cup of tea, but it's pretty terrible to think that my own taste in games (which tend to include light to mid-weight Euros) outweighs a lot of people excited about Space Hulk.

Should it be in the top ten? Well, I like other games better than Space Hulk that are lower rated than Space Hulk, but that's my own taste. Every single person on BGG has games that they like that are lower rated overall than games they dislike. That's life - we're all different.

If the Space Hulk fans are having fun, awesome! I just don't have anything relevant to add to the conversation because Space Hulk doesn't get my motor running.

Further, show me a thread in the general forums that is actually praising space hulk. There haven't been any in over a week I'm sure. Of the 2 or 3 that have been lingering in the last week they all pretty much discuss the following.

a) Space Hulks ratings (if it passes blah blah I'll kill myself)
b) Space hulk not being a wargame
c) I'm sick of Space Hulk

And of the many, like yours, that claim to loathe all the hype I say, show me this imaginary hype. Where are all these threads in General Gaming were people are claiming this is the best thing ever? There are certainly more threads like this, then any worship threads (which outside the SH forum, I have not even seen)

Basically you are imagining a problem and then pretty much doing the exact thing you are complaining about (hype / anti hype, it's all the same thing)
