This has happened before, but seemed to be fixed.

However, the bug is back again...

I just saw this on my subscription page:
.

I need a setting to indicate whether or not I want RPG junk invading my boardgamegeek subscriptions. I mean, once there's crochetgeek and funnybookgeek and toyarcadegamegeek and other "geekdo" domains, I sure don't want to get all that crap when I subscribe to a user.

Please, please, make it so I don't get RPG stuff unless I ask for it.

When you subscribe to a user, you currently get all of the user's posts in your feed, regardless of where they post. When we next do some fixes to the subscription system, this may be fixed.

He can just put a block on that game, and it's problem solved pretty much (and for any other rpg that Sag posts to as they come up).

Is it possible to block at a higher level in the rpg side?

Blech. yuk

I don't think I've come across this, but wouldn't want that cross-contamination either. However, as a software developer, I can see where that functionality wouldn't have been a part of the original system design. Good luck sorting that out.

The thing is that of the 11 people I subscribe to, several have posted regularly on the inferior site (RPGgeek), but I hadn't been getting their posts recently. It just recurred today, and that's apparently so for Guatnanamo, too.

Well, nothing has changed in the system. If you weren't getting the messages before, that is more a cause for concern than that you are getting them now.

I'd like to keep my RPG and BGG separate too.

I wouldn't want to (and shouldn't have to) a) go through and have to block EVERY RPG game AND forum on the RPG side OR b) even when I'm in the 'mood' for RPG reading (maybe could happen) I'd want then to be 'separate' activities.

Randy,

Did you block the forums?

Maybe the forums are blocked, but because this is a post to the 'game' it's not blocked?

I think that having all the content in one database is a mistake, but that's a decision that has already been made. Given that there's a single database, militantly separating BGG and RPGG content is just the worst of both worlds. The subscription system should be integrated, but users should be able to filter at the top level.

This sort of filtering is what I envision when we next make changes to the subscriptions system.

Well spoken.

Edit:

On second thought everyone on this thread is so well spoken I've decided to stalk subscribe to them all.
