I will be in Germany from Oct 9th till the 14th, unfortunately I couldn't get my business trip to coincide with Essen (this year...) but I was hoping someone could fill me in on where the best game shops would be in Dusseldorf/Cologne/Frankfurt??? Would prefer Dusseldorf/Cologne but since I'm transiting out of Frankfurt anyways I'm willing to do the traveling. Thanks again in advanced and this site is awesome!

In Cologne check out BraveNewWorld (www.bravenewworld.biz).

Awesome store: Wargames, Tabletop, Comics, some Euros; very friendly guy.

You can find a map of the location on his webside.

Ooh a little higher, now a bit to the left, a little more, a little more, just a bit more. Oooh yes, that's the spot!

So coincidentally we had already planned to visit a games store in Düsseldorf today anyway cool

Magestore as recommended here seemed like the best from our research.

It stocks board games, role playing games, W40K, wargames and CCGs and some other stuff.

If you are looking specifically at board games I would say that they have a wide and eclectic range, although not a huge range. We will be going back there before we leave Germany.

Remember that the general department stores carry a fairly reasonable selection of standard Euros in Germany that just don't exist outside specialist shops elsewhere in the world. I include both Kaufhof and Karstadt in Düsseldorf in this statement (having been to both).

I haven visited Hiveworld in Cologne in a while, but when I was there last time there was a nice collection of board games and RPGs, and a few miniatures, the owner is a nice guy as well, I think they have a games night on fridays...

Edit: I think I should point out that not every game in the shop is also listed on their website, and they have a small selection of open games anyone can play in the shop without buying them first...
