A friend gave me a copy of "Stap Op" recently. I'd never played it before, but apparently it's a bit of a nostalgic favourite among Dutch people everywhere.

So I read through the rules and decided to have a game with my kids. But when I tried to explain the game I realized that some of the cards were missing, even though I had just taken them out of the shrink-wrap. As it turned out the entire card distribution was mixed up. Here are the hilarious results:

28 Stap Op cards insteand of 14
10 Wind mee cards instead of 5
16 Bomen gaan open cards instead of 8
16 Rijwielhersteller cards instead of 8
4 Jeugdherberg cards instead of 2
8 Tegenwind cards instead of 4
6 Gesloten overweg cards instead of 3
All three Lekke Band cards present (the only correct number)
8 5km cards instead of 24
And no 6, 8, or 10km cards.

So what produced this odd screw-up? I think what must have happened is that since the game comes with two sealed packages of cards, they must have put two of the same packages in, resulting in the doubling of some of the cards and the omission of others.

I guess I'll be sending the publisher an email.

UPDATE:

The publisher has graciously offered to send the correct cards. So I can certainly commend them for customer service, at least to the few people who will stumble across this thread in a backwater of the BGG universe.
