Sound the alarms! Another BGGeek has escaped and provided insight in the world of board games. Let's shoot to disable, not kill, and try to get his 1982 Origins t-shirt back on him before we recage the beast...

Short, but interesting and amusing.

board games give you an excellent chance to feel superior to the unwashed masses without actually having to wash.

Some of you may be familiar with Mr. Sjoberg's old Brunching Shuttlecocks website, on which he gave various things in the same category (state quarters, ways to go straight up) letter grades and comments.

For a few months (late 2008 and early 2009), he also had a video series on Wired called Alt Text.

Here’s a detailed, but by no means complete, list of board game categories:

Games Your Grandmother Has Heard Of
These include most games you can get at Wal-Mart, like Yahtzee, Sorry! and Monopoly. The only thing you need to know about these much-loved classic games is that they’re crap. Especially Monopoly. Monopoly is to the contemporary board gamer as garlic-infused kryptonite snakes are to Super Vampire Indiana Jones.

(Chess may be a technical exception to this rule, as no board gamer will say bad things about chess, although they will not actually play it.)

I will say something bad about it - it is dull and boring.

I don't know what you have to say, it makes no difference anyway: whatever it is, I'm against it!

Right now it's only available in Germany. There were rumors Mayfair would have it sometime in Q2 2010, with slightly tweaked art.

I'm entertained by his Euro examples. Same style as the rest of the article - completely accurate descriptions.

The other articles are pretty good too - his "World of Warcraft filming diary" is worth reading, if only because it includes the phrase "Nerf Shia Labeouf."
