I just found out today that BBC Radio 5 is running live commentary on the NFL on Sundays at 9pm. This week, it's a team from Filadelfia playing against the Oak Land Pirates. I have no idea where Oak Land is.

Many many years ago, I listened to the games on the Army Sports Network in Europe or whatever it was called. Back to back games on Sunday on whistling medium wave. It was the local team's coverage and so nicely biased.

Anyway, there it is.

Are the BBC doing the commentary, or is it done by Amercuns?

I dunno. R5 uses a Canadian guy called Greg Brady, so he might do it. Given the plethora of ads on US broadcasts, the Beeb might take the US commentary and fill with Greg.

We shall see. You'll be able to listen yourself anyway, it will be streamed.

But you listen to TMS. Don't you?

Well the interesting aspect to me is that it is on the BBC. BBC has always HATED Amfoot with a passion, and constantly derided it. This is a major turn around. They've been covering the SB live on R% for a couple of years, and with the NFL game at Wembley now, I wonder if the Beeb will take it on telly too (although Sky probably won't release the rights).

Are they going to have another game at Wembley? That was pretty cool last year.

Pats v Bucs, week Sunday. Last year, Tycho flew back early from Essen to go straight to the game from the airport.

Ah. TMS. I took me awhile to figure out which one you mean. I'm assuming you mean Cricket, and not the Texas Motor Speedway, but then, there are a lot of TMSs that I hoped you didn't mean.

Now I'll have to listen to a little cricket, since I've not actually listen to any before.

Good grief, turn your back for a minute, and people will talk behind it!

Yes I did. Met the missus and kids at Liverpool St Station, gave my suitcase-full-of-games to the kids who took it home, while she & I went on to Wembley. Had a great time.

Not this year though. You'll just have to put up with me for longer.

Be aware that that will likely be an awful, awful game, pitting one of the league's best teams against one the league's worst.

Announcers on TV broadcasts are employees of the national TV networks, and thus are (theoretically) impartial. Radio announcers, however, are employees of the teams and thus are very biased (exception: games played in the evening have national radio announcers).

Although I agree with Tampa being in the league's worst teams, I have to say it's tough to put NE in the league's best teams right now.

But since I would hate to see Tampa play so bad, and well, I don't like seeing NE play at all, it would be a tough game for me to watch.
