This is the best place I could find for this thread.

1. You DO talk about Thumb Club
2. You DO talk about Thumb Club
3. You thumb other freely
4. If something is interesting, tip the poster
5. If you think Fight Club references are out of date, you DON'T talk about it
6. All you need is love

I'm trying to start a multiple discussion thread. I'll start one discussion, someone else can start another..We may be talking about 20 different things. Let's try to keep the open discussions to 65. I only have a 64 track mind. Try to thumb every new poster. This doesn't mean, don't thumb repeat offenders. For example, I'll try to be on here everyday. I don't expect thumbs for all my posts. This is about getting the love out there.

IDEALS-
Friends are neat. Invite your friends to come here.
It's okay to say something. Start a discussion.
Please don't beg here. I beg. But I want thumbing. If someone says something cool, tip them. But don't ask for it. Asking for it leads to complaints..and all the rules are suggestions..except 6. Don't be hating.

Discussion 1 - Favorite Beatles Song..

Beatles Rock Band just came out. Which Beatles song is your fav? I'm going to list my top ten.
10. Strawberry Fields Forever
9. Octopus's Garden
8. Help!
7. With A Little Help From My Friends
6. Across The Universe
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
4. Dear Prudence
3. Yellow Submarine
2. Hey Jude
1. Can't Buy Me Love

I know, I know..this list alone will lead to many problems, but let's talk about it..and smile.

I'll be on tomorrow to check this and comment on what everyone said.

Until then,
JD

I've played the original Power Grid. My friend has at least one of the expansions..and I'm looking forward to it. Awesome choice of songs. Plus my friends got to play that game(Ticket to Ride) last week. They loved it, but I haven't got to play it yet. My friends say I'll like it alot.

Ticket to Ride is the 'gateway game' in my opinion. No one I've introduced this game to, has disliked it. As for me.. I can take it or leave it. Not a bad game, but can be to mechanical. Especially when your playing people in some Puffing Billy tournament. shake Little to competitive game of Ticket to Ride for me. I did get stomped too..

I enjoy the original more than the European version. A little more cut throat. The train stations seem a bit to 'lolly pop' for me.

I collect thumbs for a hobby, so a Thumb Club is a great idea

This is what I do with them. Everytime I reach a 100 thumb mark (100, 200, 300, etc.), I take a screenshot of my thumb count and e-mail it to all my non-gamer friends. This really annoys them, so I intend to keep it up!

Yesterday I received over 100 thumbs involving three posts, mostly, and a few others.

One happy result is I broke the 5,000 thumb barrier in the early afternoon.

1. Ribald Humor gets rewarded (one of my top two performers of all time):

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/4116227#4116227

2. Contest humor, a bit on the potty side, works:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/4119689#4119689

3. Off Topic forum postings work:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/455571

4. Oddly enough, specific topics are, on the face of it, the LEAST productive, but they do bring you a focused audience that makes you geek buddy worthy, so that the humor stuff gets noticed and thumbed/golded.

The occasional begging also works - that is how I got my Avatar last week - but I am certain that has something to do with being a very regular contributor here.

Oh, and notice that a bit of self promotion works...Sales, really.

Meh, this club is about love, not hate. so..haters can move to that other thumb club. Right now, two discussions moving..Favorite Beatles Song..and Favorite Vampire Movie. Note on the Chit-Chat..that sounds like a good idea, but since I can't pack up and leave this forum..oh, well. Since, I'm not huge on Vampire movies..I know, I know, blasphemy! I looked them up and found what I thought would be awesome..it's from 2001..Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter..with the great line, 'If I'm not back in five minutes, call The Pope.'

I agree. It is amazing to me. It seems the 'balloon poppers' on BGG like to jump on and stomp the guts out of anything already done before. This is the scenerio:

Balloon popper posts, "Jeez, get a clue. This idea has already been done right here, (insert thread address)yada yada yada. I've seen it many a times when it comes to GeekLists. shake

Don't be a 'balloon popper'. As for vampire movies... I enjoyed Lost Boys, Vampires, Dusk till Dawn, Interview with a Vampire.

I prefer zombie flicks... zombie

I've seen it just as many times with GeekLists too and it's just as irritating in that case too. As though people are just pissing all over the creations of other people in order to gain thumbs, GG, renown, whatever it may be.

I don't see myself as a balloon popper, rather, I see these duplicate posts with a complete disregard to previous posts/lists/etc. as popping my balloon.
