The game moves too slowly. The Viet Minh need a few seasonal turns (6 months +) to win the battle of Route Coloniale 4, which historically they won in a few days... The scale is way off. The French OOB is wrong, and the rules are ambiguous. It's still an interesting effort. Sold it in 2002.

Most of the time the RC4 should be a 1 turn affair for the 308 and 312 division. With luck the 308 could do it alone.

First activation is the 308 : at worst, it takes care of 2 of the 3 hex with its 4 PA. Chance are that 3 PA will be enough and that the 308 will be able to move.

Whatever the French does in its activation, there's very little chance he will do anything to save the remaining force on the RCA (1 bat of the RTM and 1 bat of the 3rd REI), and if he does try something, the Viethminh should be very happy !

Next VM activation is the 312 : between 1 and 3 PA is enough to destroy what remains, and then it can move to another place.

Of course there is other possibilities : destroying one of the colone with forces from the Viet Bac area and set up the 312 a lot more agressively (in the jungle near the Delta and the pays Thai for instance).
