Poll
What do YOU like about the recent debates on the wargaming board?
Your Answer   Vote Percent Vote Count
The Repetition.
36.8% 46
Watching senile (sometimes younger), educated men getting aroused over makeshift problems.
32.0% 40
The huge walls of text.
20.8% 26
The humour ... wait, what!?
26.4% 33
The discussing for discussion's sake.
27.2% 34
The clique of "real wargamers" who always (and only) thumb each others' opinions.
30.4% 38
Realising why wargame rulebooks are so big - because they are written for folks who need 10 pages of discussion to agree on a definition of what a wargame actually is.
35.2% 44
Watching the wargamers behave on this site like that certain uncle of yours, who nobody really likes, but who you have to endure during family meetings, because he's part of the family and although he always turns himself into a total train wreck getting drunk and spewing out right wing nonsense.
24.8% 31
Being cynical and entertained by the idea of how a much better place the earth would be if all these people put their efforts towards real issues.
23.2% 29
Figuring out what the two Italian wargamers are saying.
22.4% 28
Thinking "Wow, these wargamers really have a problem getting their games to the table."
24.8% 31
The absence of admins - letting threads go awry and not really listening to the vital concerns.
24.8% 31
Playing Agricola is actually more boring.
20.8% 26
It's good exercise for the monotony of painting the Space Hulk minis.
12.0% 15
Getting a point across ... wait, what!?
16.8% 21
"I like filling out polls, because I think it's my responsibility as a citizen of a Democratic republic to crosses boxes when asked to, even though I'm neither interested in the content of the poll, nor personally affected by its outcome."

ERRATA: 1.2.1 is void in its entirety and should read: "I enjoyed the repetition."

(And really, painting genestealers is pretty boring )

Collins Epic Wargames is pleased to announce a new wargame called AD NAUSEAM. It's a game about resistance to the repetition. It's been done before, but we're doing it again... and again and again!

Quote:
"Ad nauseam" arguments are logical fallacies relying on the repetition of a single argument to the exclusion of all else. This tactic employs intentional obfuscation, in which other logic and rationality is intentionally ignored in favour of preconceived (and ultimately subjective) modes of reasoning and rationality.

Ya know, most of them are started by one guy and it draws out the clique...just saying.

That is why I am growing weary.

'The guy' has an impressive vocabulary of phrases - he brings up the same subject over and over again - it is like mumbling.

The Anti The Guy (ATG) clique tries to overrun him, enters his ZOC, engages him, and still the TG will not retreat or be elim.

It is always an Exchange Result - no matter the odds.

The PCT table is broken - it has but one result (EX) and is on a turntable.

It is the poorest design in wargaming ever.

It could be that he is ignoring the odds and considers them to be all 1:1s always rolling an EX.

It is a stalemate.

It is also stale.

How many times must one make the same points, over, and over, and over, and over, again?

Repetition.
not Again.
Repetition
Its his friend
when the facts are askew
and he searches for truth
he wants to ask you
but shoots you like Booth
Repeating his points
typing all day
It all disappoints
as he ignores what we say
and continues on
can we all just go out and play
instead of pissing on the lawn
Repetition
Ad nauseam
competition
makes it fun
find a friend who'll play
instead of going alone
you'll eventually say
that games are for fun
when with a brother
and not a party of one
and your thoughts will soon smother
dieing on the vine
as you get away from mother
and have a good time
Repetition
Your boring me
Repetition
just come play with me!

---------------

Good God, I just wrote that?

I think the first expansion to the Boardgame Geek Game involves an extra board that is placed on a card table away from the base game. All "wargamers" move to that table and debate the game until their wives are finished playing the Boardgame Geek Game and then go home.
