No doubt new Occupations will emerge in due course. Meanwhile we have the old Occupations: how could they be tweaked to interact with the new parts of the game? Some Occupations could be weakened.
Charcoal Burner: In 4 and 5 player games, take 1 Fuel instead of 1 Wood.
Others could be strengthened- adding to the list of Minor Improvements that the Thatcher effects for example.
Some Occupations probably don't need altering. The Woodcutter is good enough without giving him a bonus when Felling Trees, for example. Some Occupations have gained dramatically from the expansion- the Stonecutter's discount has a wider range for example- and don't need further change.
Thematic linking is nice- the Master Forester might have a link to the Forester's Lodge, or the Pastor to the Village Church.
If you want to completely rewrite an Occupation, go ahead- especially if it wasn't working originally. For example, the unimpressive Stonebreaker could have a new ability in place of the old one.
Whenever you Cut Peat, Gain 1 Stone. (Too strong? Maybe.)
Of course, testing the ideas is not so easy. First of all, there are so many Occupations that you may have to deliberately include variant cards. Secondly, persuading the other players to play cards with different text could be tricky! But at least we can discuss them... all suggestions welcome.
I will happily contribute to this thread once I actually have the stupid thing in my possession.
The braggart is even more powerful, I suggest removing him or upping the number of improvements required.

No change needed ?
Clay Delivery Man
Head of the Family
Wooden Hut Builder
Possible Minor change?
Meat Seller: 2 Food for each Horse (You can argue this one either way)
Lord of the Manor: A bonus point is awarded for 4 or more Horses.
Conservator: The renovation costs you 1 Fuel in addition to its normal costs.
Yeoman Farmer: "for Unused Spaces, Begging cards, and Minor Improvements with negative points value". (Farmers of the Moor includes a couple of these, and there's normally a big positive to make up for the negative, so its important the negative isn't bypassed).
Mendicant: "and 2 family members in hospital count as their full points value).
Charcoal Burner: In a 4 of 5 player game, you recieve 1 Fuel instead of 1 Wood.
Clay Seller: 4 Clay to 1 Cattle or 1 Horse.
Master Forester: The Forester's Lodge bonuses apply to this card as they do to Felling trees.
Animal Keeper; Horses can also be kept in the same pasture as the others.
Braggart: 1/2/4/6/8 Bonus points for having 6/7/8/9/10+ Improvements in front of you
Fisherman: add to the list any improvements in the expansion that affect fishing.
Thatcher: Farmhand's Quarters, Village Shop, Hardware Store and Fuel Storage also qualify for the 1 Reed discount from this card.
Would be nice to rework?
Academic (With none of the new Minor Improvements keyed to number of Occupations, this card is even worse with the exapnsion than it was in the base game).
Pastor: Some link to the Church improvements?

I'd suggest the original bonus pts for the braggart but only count the major improvements. He was too powerful in the base game already and its so easy to buy improvements in the expanded game.
I think I had around 17 improvements yesterday for a total of 23 pts. I did have businessman and broom so that did make it a little easier.

Clay Hut Builder
Some minor change?
Sycophant: Any other player that uses the "Take 1 Grain" actions space must first pay you 1 food or 1 fuel. In addition, you recieve 1 food or 1 fuel from the supply, even when you take the Grain yourself.
Midwife: In addition to the stated benefits, if you have played Birthing House you get 1 food, 1 fuel and 1 VP whenever another player takes Family Growth and their family is larger than yours as a result.
Pig Catcher: In addition, when you use the "Fell Trees" special action you may return 2 wood to the supply for 1 wild boar.
Layabout: You also do not need to heat your home at the next Harvest.
Butcher: 2 food for each Horse.
Would be nice to rework?
Taster: 1 food discount on the costs of minor improvements and special actions.
Church Warden: No problem with the ability stated, but some link to the Church might be good.
