On behalf of the 2D6.org staff, I would like to extend an invitation to the Board Game Geek community during our grand opening week. As of yesterday evening, we released the first of many video-based reviews and interviews that we plan to produce over the coming months, years, etc.
Take a moment to look at the site as well as our first review: Dominion. Being that we're a new organization, we could definitely use your help in making 2D6.org a better place. We encourage you to provide your feedback wherever you see fit.
If you find yourself asking, "what is 2D6.org?" - hopefully the following FAQ's will fill in the blanks...
What is 2D6.org?:
Founded in November 2009 by a group of graduate students focusing on game related studies, 2D6.org is a board gaming community dedicated to providing gamers with a source of high quality, video-based board game reviews and interviews. Drafting from a production staff with varying levels of gaming experience, 2D6 attempts to reduce the noise-to-signal ratio by providing well rounded opinions for board gamers looking to get the best game for their buck.
What does 2D6 stand for?:
Often affiliated with role playing games, the term “2D6″ is dice notation for two six-sided dice. Being that many designer board games incorporate a 2D6 mechanic, the site name and URL were selected as our way of paying homage.
What are 2D6.org reviews made up of?:
Each review is broken up and collaboratively discussed based on the following categories…
Craftsmanship – The quality and sturdiness of the components.
Presentation – The quality of the theme / story (if applicable) and whether the components fit the overall objective.
Accessibility – Ease to learn / set up. Whether the theme or game type could be an audience deterrent.
Gameplay – Player interaction / strategy involved. Most importantly, whether or not the game is fun.
Replayability – The replay value. How much table time the game could see.
*Final Verdict: Whether or not the game is worth buying.
In order to help our community wade through the mountains of other reviews found on the web, at the bottom of each review, we attempt to also reduce the noise-to-signal ratio by briefly showcasing the reviews of other members of the board gaming community that we felt did a particularly excellent job.
How often does 2D6 release new content?:
Our mission is to release 2-3 new reviews each month, while producing interviews on an irregular basis – largely determined by our ability to attend gaming cons. Take notice that, when the mood strikes us, we will also publish a musing or two in the blog section.
How do I go about suggesting a game for 2D6 to review?:
Hop over to the feedback forum and tell us! If you’re a publisher looking to acquire some PR or a designer seeking feedback, send us a copy of your game. We’ll do our best to accommodate the 2D6 community in any way that we can.
Thank you Kindly,
