When a game is put into signup and never played, the spirit within it roams from place to place, seeking rest and closure and never finding it. Such a game is a dangerous ghost, a shadow of what might have been, forced to wonder until such time as it should be run to completion in the FOREST OF LOST GAMES.

Basics:

MAP:

There will be 4 areas in this game. Each area will have its own thread. No more than 19 players can be in a thread at any time. If more players attempt to enter a thread than are allowed, the first order entered will take priority.

Starting locations are random, but on any night N1 or thereafter, players may move to another thread as long as it is connected to their currant one by a line in the map above.

Each thread will have its own lynch and nightkills. Players may read only the thread they are in, but may read previous days. As the number of players reduces, threads will be eliminated to make sure everyone stays together. Once a thread has been eliminated, it may no longer be moved to or read from.

Players may only use their powers against those players in their thread.

Players may take notes about their thread; however, all notes must be kept either in cassy chat or in your head. Any notes written in other places are prohibited.

PARTNERS:

Each player will have a partner, chosen prior to game start, with whom they will have a permanent chat for the game.

ORDER OF NIGHT ACTIONS:

1. Protections
2. Kills
3. Views
4. Movement

Roles:

Max evils:

1+ Abominations: A team of max evils. Have a chat. May kill at night. All of the abominations are brutal.
Victory condition: Eliminate the criminals and achieve parity with the remaining players.

1+ Criminals: A team of max evils. Have a chat. May kill at night. All of the criminals are brutal.
Victory Condition: Eliminate the abominations and achieve parity with the remaining players.

Both teams of max evils will have the ability to kill at night, however the exact methods and nature of the nightkill are unknown.

1 Bog Monster: On N0 the Bog Monster will have an anonymous chat with a random member of both the abominations and criminals team. Thereafter he will alternate between the two, chatting with a random member of the team of his choice on odd-numbered nights and the other team on even-numbered nights. The Bog Monster counts for parity with either team for their victory condition. The Bog Monster has kill powers in the form of “threats”. Each threat can be activated after certain conditions are met. The conditions and threats are known to the Bog Monster. Whenever a threat is used, it will be announced what the threat is and what allowed it to be activated. The Bog Monster will know which players are in which threads each day.
Victory Condition: Be the last man standing.

Aux Evils:

0+ Worshippers: A worshipper will know the identity of all the abominations and will win if they win.

0+ Accomplices: An accomplice will know the identity of all the criminals and will win if they win.

0+ Axe Murderers: An axe murderer will know the ID of the currant Bog Monster and will win if he wins.

0+ Bogglings: A cute-looking satanic spawn of the bog monster. The Bog Monster will know the IDs of any Bogglings. When the Bog Monster dies, a random Boggling will take his place. Bogglings win if the Bog Monster wins.

0+ Lycanthropes: A lycanthrope’s identity will be known to the abominations. When an abomination dies, a random lyc will begin to count for parity and join the group. All lycs will be brutal. Lycs will be viewed as aux evil before promotion and as max evil afterwards.

0+ Thieves: A thief’s identity will be known to the criminals. When an criminal dies, a random thief will begin to count for parity and will join the group. All thieves will be brutal. Thieves will be viewed as aux evil before promotion and as max evil afterwards.

If all the max evils on a team are eliminated, any aux evil who can only win with that team will lost all their powers and become a Masochist. A Masochist has no powers and wins if a) an evil team wins and he lives to see it or b) he is killed at night (bog monster threats do not count).

0+ Spies: A spy will view for seer/not seer each night and, upon finding a seer, will be informed of what kind it is. Random negative N0 view. A spy can win with either max evil team.

0+ Aux Spies: An Aux Spy will view for Governor/Hunter/Vigilante/Hunter/Other each night. Random other N0 view. Can win with either max evil team.

0+ Latent Spies: Whenever a spy dies, the Latent spy will get his powers. Can win with either max evil team.

0+ Traitors: Aux evil with no powers that can win with either max evil team. If there are multiple traitors in the game they will have a chat room.

0+ Witches: A witch may target a player to cancel their power each night. Cannot target the same player two nights in a row; can with with either max evil team.

0+ Cursed: At game start the cursed can win with either max evil team. If targeted for a nightkill by a single max evil team, will survive and join that team and count for parity. If killed by other means, will die and join one of the teams (whichever one killed him, whichever one had the most votes on him if lynched with a tie broken randomly, and the weaker team otherwise) in their chat and be able to view as either a spy or aux spy each night. From then on he can only win with that team. If one of his views is later killed, he is removed from the chat.

0+ Assassins: An assassin has a one-shot kill, usable on any night of the game. At the start of the game, can win with either max evil team. If he uses his kill against a max evil; the max evil will not die, the max and the assassin will learn each other’s IDs, and from then on the assassin will only win if that max evil wins. Will know which team he wins with after this occurs.

0+ Desperate Dogs: A game start can win with either evil team. His vote will only count if he votes on the same person as at least one max evil. If he votes with a member of the same max evil team three days in a row, he will join that team. He may join the Bog Monster's team. If he fails to vote with any max evils three days in a row, he will die. Once he has joined a team, he will count for parity for that team and they will learn his ID and he will learn one of theirs.

Good Roles:

Victory Condition: Eliminate all max evils.

0-2 Governors: A governor may, once per game, reveal himself to decide the lynch in his thread for that day.

1+ Hunters (there will be a good number): If the hunters achieve parity with a group of max evils, the max evils are killed.

1+ Wolf Seers (there will be a good number): A seer can view a player of his choice each night for max evil/not max evil. Random N0 view. A seer may be any of the following kinds:
True: receives correct results.
Insane: Receives incorrect results
Paranoid: Always sees wolf.
Naive: Always sees not wolf.
Unstable: Alternates between True and insane; starting type is random.
Drunken: Alternates between Paranoid and Naive; starting type is random.
The exact kind of seer a player is will be revealed on death. At least one true seer will be in the game.

0+ Aux Seers: Views for aux evil/not aux evil each night. Random negative N0 view.

0+ Half Seers: Views 2 players each night; gets the role type (max evil, aux evil, good, neutral) of one of them but will not be told which one.

0+ Quasi-seers: View two players each night; will be told if they are of the same role type or not. Role types are: Max Evil, aux evil, good, neutral.

0+ Random Role Seers: Each night learns the role of a random player who voted for him the previous day; does not learn which player it was. If only one player votes him sees alignment only.

0+ Latent Seers: The first time any seer role dies, the Latent Seer will get their viewing ability. If it was a wolf seer, the kind of wolf seer the latent becomes will be random.

0+ Witness: Targets a player each night; not the same player consecutively. If that player is killed by another player that night, the witness will learn who did the deed. Once used, this power is gone.

0+ Psychics: Each night a psychic will learn a random role that exists in the game.

1+ Passive Priests (there will be a good number): As long as at least one passive priest is alive, roles will be revealed on death. This is basically the villager of the game.

1+ Martyrs (there will be a good number): A martyr may target a player at night (not the same player two nights in a row) and if they are targeted with a kill that night or a brutal kill the next day will die in their player. In the case of multiple martyrs, a random martyr will die for each kill attempt made against a protection target, and once all martyrs are dead the target may be killed as well.

1+ Vigilantes (there will be a good number): A vigilante has a one-shot kill power that may be used on any night of the game. If the vigilantes has not used this kill when they die, they may use it on any other player of their choice.

0 or 2+ Masons: A mason will have a chat with others as known goods.

0+ Ghosts: A ghost can view a player each night and see what roles targeted them. All ghosts will have the “ethereal” attribute.

0-1 Medium: Once per game the medium may select a dead player, who will be permitted to post in the thread the medium is in during the following game day.

0+ Physicians: The physician may protect a target player each night. If the target player is a nightkill target he will survive one more day and die at dusk. After a protection is successful the physician cannot attempt a protection again.

Neutral:

0-3 Misanthrope: A Misanthrope will be given a list of players and roles at game start. The Misanthrope wins if all those players die and roles and either the Misanthrope survives to the end of the game or chooses to leave the village on any night. The misanthrope can leave the game on any night; if he leaves before fulfilling this condition, he loses. Each night he can view a player and see target/not target. If both the Saint and Misanthrope are in the game, the list of players and roles they receive at game start will be the same.

0-2 Cupid: At game start cupid will pick 2 other players. Those players and cupid will receive a permanent chat room. When one member of the chat dies, the other two will become lovers. If a lover is targeted with death, the other will die as well. Cupid wins if any pair or trio of these lovers survives to the end of the game. Cupid and both lovers have a permanent -1 vote on them.

0-1 Cult leader: The cult leader may make a recruitment attempt on N1 and every even numbered night of the game, except N0. Max Evils, players who can become max evils or know max evils at game start (except for cursed players; these will lose their powers on recruitment), Wolf Seers, and Hunters cannot be recruited. Recruited players get a chat with the cult leader. The cult leader and any recruits win if all the max evils are eliminated and the cult has parity or better with the remaining players. Recruited players retain their powers. If the cult leader is killed, the cult will lose a night of recruiting and a random cult member will be promoted to cult leader. The cult win steals the win from the other side(s).

0+ Clone: Before the start of the game the Clone may name X players, where X is the total number of players in the game minus 1, divided by 3, rounded up. Once the first of these players dies the Clone will become an exact copy of this player, including both role and alignment but excluding any attribute. There are three exceptions: The Clone cannot become a max evil, cult leader, or a Wolf Seer. If the Clone would become a Werewolf he will become a Traitor instead. If he would become a Wolf Seer he will become a Passive Priest instead. If he would become a cult leader he will become an ugly duckling instead.

0+ Saint: At game start the Saint will be given a list of players and roles. He wins if those players and roles plus him every achieve parity with the remaining players, or if he is dead and at least one of them is alive at game end. If both the Saint and Misanthrope are in the game, the list of players and roles they receive at game start will be the same. If parity is achieved, the Saint will win a personal victory and leave the game, and a random good player will count double for parity from then on. Each night the Saint may either view for target/not target at night (random not-target N0 view) or may give up his view for that night to learn how many of his targets remain in the game.

0+ Ugly Ducklings: Will be permitted to choose his own alignment during the game. On N3 may name good or evil as the side he wishes to win with. Once per game may name another player, and he will become the alignment of that player. Vote will not count after D2. All Ugly Ducklings will have the white hat attribute.

Attributes:

Any player may have any of these attributes. A player will be aware of any attributes he starts the game with, except possibly tinkers.

Clever: A clever player will know some bit of information about the game setup that is not publicly known at game start.

Brutal: A brutal player can kill another player on death.

Charismatic: A Charismatic player’s vote counts double.

White Hat: A white hat’s role is revealed on death even if all the passive priests are dead.

Weak: A weak player will be lynched if in second place for lynch on any day of the game, unless the person in first place is also weak.

Ethereal: An ethereal player will survive lynch and nightkill one time each. However, if an ethereal player is the target of a single-target yes/no view by another player, they will immediately die.

Tinker: Any yes/no views of a tinker will be reversed. A player who has this attribute may no be aware of it.

And last, but certainly not least...

The Shocking Twist

The game may or may not contain exactly one (1) SHOCKING TWIST. No part of the rules will be a lie. There will be no hidden roles or powers. There may be extra chat rooms. There may be items.

The Nitty-Gritty

Balance is not guaranteed.
The Number One Priority is to have Fun.
Game will run weekdays only.
Not/low posting and/or not voting could get you Mod-killed (you've been warned; it's a big game and there aren't a lot of people left to use as replacements.).
Votes must conform to the Cassy protocol. Edited Vote posts are invalidated.
Votes time-stamped 4:00 or earlier are valid; those at 4:01 or later are not.
If BGG is down, especially in the final hour or so prior to lynch, lynch may be delayed or postponed.
Geekmail may be used for questions and orders if Cassy is unavailable.
Conditional Voting is allowed only in extreme circumstances with Mod approval.
Ask questions in red to receive an answer in red.
In answering your questions, I will conform to your assumptions, answering does not validate your assumptions. e.g. asking "Can the wolf jmilum do x", may get the response: "Yes". Meaning that x is possible for the wolf, who you are assuming is jmilum.
Try to limit the editing of posts; always include a brief explanation if you do so.
No Posting when the Mod says No Posting.
No posting after death.
No PMs between players unless otherwise noted.
No deleting of posts without Mod permission.
No direct quotes of PMs/chats.
Please thumb posts that you find amusing or insightful, this should not necessarily be considered endorsement of that player's position.
No smoking.
Regarding timed scripted posts, encryption, and other such issues: I don't have a problem with them. What I do have a problem with is people using things outside the scope of normal werewolf to ruin others fun. If you do that, I'll get you. (Ruining people's fun with things inside the normal scope of werewolf is okay).
Don't use this link OR ANYTHING LIKE IT.

The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in bracekts: [vote jmilum]

3. Only one vote per post.

4. If you [vote nightfall] your vote will be locked (voting
nightfall is allowed in the same post as a vote for a player, but it
must come after it, this does not violate Rule #3)

5. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread hourly
if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each game day)
are also available on the Cassandra game page.

6. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

7. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

8. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

9. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

10. Editing a vote post will invalidate the vote and it will not be counted.

Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Retrieve Final Lynch Time Vote' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by
either posting [killed jmilum] in the thread, or by going to the game
page and editing the player list. When posting in the thread, be sure to post
[dusk] before posting the lynch kill, and post [dawn] before
posting the night kill.
Example:
A. lynch time has passed so post [dusk]
B. goto the game page and select a final tally to be posted
C. check the final tally and post [killed melsana]
D. after the night deadline has passed post [dawn]
E. post the night kill with [killed kima]

Your Moderator has chosen to use the Longest Held Last Vote method for a tiebreaker - This is just for Cassandra system, and there may be a different tiebreaker specified by your Moderator in the ruleset.

There was a click, and Cassandra spoke again.

N0 information has been released, players. Prepare for the reveal of N0 kills.

“N0 kills?” you exclaim. “But we never do N0 kills!”

This is game 1000. Many new things are happening. Revealing kills now…

A shot rings out, and a maroon eagle you knew well keels over…

[killed redhawke]

Redhawke was a moderator.

There is a yowl, and a purplemom fades into nothingness…

[killed deborahjeane]

Deborahjeane was a cat.

An unearthly scream, and some lady dressed as catwoman dissolves into a puddle of goo…

[killed selena]

Selena was a weirdo in a catwoman suit.

You walk up and poke the bodies experimentally.

“Yep, they’re dead all right,” Belash says.

“OMG this is horrible!” exclaims snaak. “They’re dead! How could this happen?”

“They’re not dead in real life, stupid,” said nyriv. “It’s virtual reality, remember?”

“Oh,” said snaak. “I get so confused sometimes.”

dbmurph22 sniffs the air around the bodies.

“Well,” he says, “Redhawke’s been shot, which is clearly the work of criminals. Deborahjeane’s faded away, so some abomination must have gotten ahold of her. And selena here looks a lot like she’s been digested by a bog monster. So I guess we ought to be lynching those kind of people.”

“OMG this is horrible!” exclaims snaak. “Abominations and Bog Monsters and Criminals- oh my!”

“They’re not real, stupid,” said nyriv. “It’s virtual reality, remember?”

“Oh,” says snaak. “I get so confused sometimes.”

“Anyway,” Beowulf said, “I think we ought to get going- you can’t just sit around and let those things get ahold of you, even if it is virtual.” There were nods of ascent all around.

Ready, players?

They got themselves ready- but not quick enough to avoid another, “OMG! This is horrible!” out of snaak.

Hello fellow Lost Players! kiss Finally we can talk!

My long N0 has been very very lonely. Dispaminite refuses to talk to me in our chat. (Granted, I have not said anything either, but still). I'd lynch his wolfy arse right away, but he's not even in the same thread I am. So [vote Snaak] for being such a pussy. kiss

According to Cassie, Scott Becker is up for replacement as well. Hmm.

I'm actually half-tempted to suggest a truce; we lynch one of the non-players, evils kill the other one, and nobody has to get knocked out on the first day.

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

"No more than 19 players can be in a thread at any time."

However, there aren't going to be 19 players available to be in the threads after today. I wonder if there's benefit in coordinating who goes to each location? And are there limitations on whom the max evils can kill (i.e. only people in their thread)?

MOD: Can the Abominations and the Criminals kill any player, regardless of location?

EDIT: By "there aren't going to be 19 players available to be in the threads today," I meant there aren't enough players for there to be 19 players in every room. And in fact, there are only 60 players to start (darned fact checking!), so we can't fill them all to capacity even if we tried.

So, Davidenkinderen: you're saying that your partner is Dispaminite, is that correct?

Can we find out at which location Dispam is currently residing through our partner chats?

The specific mechanics of the nightkill(s) are not publicly known. However, in general powers can only be targeted at those in your thread. Exceptions to this rule will be few.
