Hi!

I just want to write a rules summary for some new Power Grid players.

Now I´m looking for a font, that looks similar to the font which is used in the original Power Grid rulebook.

Is there anybody who can give me a hint? goo

maybe try this:

http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

or if you don't have access to a scanner or to a pdf of the rulebook, you might still get some results with http://www.identifont.com/identify.html

DIN 1451 Engschrift (or the Alternate family in the DINSchrift group of type), which at one time was used on German highway signage and Kaufmann Script.

I knew 20 years of graphic design would come in handy one day.

Hi David,

thank you very much. The font you named comes really close to the font that is used for the Power Grid LOGO. Not 100%, look at the letter "A" (In Germany this boardgame is named FUNKENSCHLAG).

But the font I´m searching for is that what is used in the headlines of the rulebook.

I'll download the PDF of the rulebook when I get home from work and post back.

From the .pdf of the rulebook, it seems that the rules text is Univers Condensed, and Univers Condensed Bold. I am assuming Waldmeister is the heading font, but I haven't been able to find it, not even for sale anywhere. I wonder if Maura created this herself?

howdy.

as many people ask for, here the names of the fonts, i used for power grid:

the gametypo (power grid) is the din eng (eng for condensed, not english).
i don`t know, if i made the A in the first power grid version by myself or if it was part of the font (made the first box 2004 with macos 9), but there isn`t that round A in that font anymore. Just type a capital O and make the rest in photoshop or any other program.

the numbers on the cards and the names of the cities is the russka, which was made by my exgirlfriend and a friend of her. it`s no freefont. for further information just contact her ( rache (at) atelierkrake.de ).
btw. there are no international letters in this font. no fun, if you make a brasil/iberian board.

the headlinefont in the rules and the font at the boxbottom is the waldmeister. it`s also made by maren and no freeware font.

the font for the rulestext is the univers condensed, but i will change the font for further rules.

mostly i use now the myriad pro condensed, which is part of the Mac system.

you can try to find similar fonts at this sites:

www.dafont.com
or
www.myfonts.com

they have a lot of free or shareware fonts in a good quality.
or you can buy the fonts from maren, but i think, that the fonts are too expensive just for some fan work (roundabout 50,- eu each font).

cheers,
maura
(ehm, i`m male. just for your information)

edit:
the font i used for friedemann`s name is the kaufmann.

Hi maura,

thank you for your detailed informations. thumbsup

I think I have to look for some fonts that look a little bit like those you used. € 50,- is really too expensive for my little rules summary.

Please go on with your cool graphics! oil
