Salutations, gentlefolk,

The final Lansdowne Games Day of 2009
- and maybe the final Lansdowne Games day of all
will be on December 5th

This will go from 11:15 AM to 8:15 PM,
at The Garden Church,
82 North Lansdowne Avenue,
(the corner of Stratford Ave - across from the Wawa)
in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania

For directions by car or SEPTA, see:

The Lansdowne Game Days have been a regular happening,
to talk, socialize, nibble, and make friends,
join for friendly competition, fellowship and fun.
play - and teach - games new and old

Unfortunately, the attendance at recent LGD's
hasn't been sufficient
to make continuing them worthwhile.

Mayhaps there are now sufficient places and events
for gamers to gather
that the LGDs are redundant,
or maybe everyone's got a full calendar,
and no time for another gaming get-together

Perhaps the 'hardcore gamers' thought that the LGDs
were for kids and 'mundanes',
and the 'uninitiated' thought
'twas an assemblage of geeks and fanatics,
and they both stayed away ;-(

Or maybe getting to Lansdowne from the expressway exits
is just too much a maze

But, whatever the reason for this failure is,
it seemed like a good idea at the start,
and we gave it our best shot.

Certainly the facilities - rooms, tables, etc -
at the Garden Church are quite good
and I could not have asked for more cooperation
from Reverent Tim and from the parishioners.

But if you'd like the LGD's to resume in 2010,
then you're invited to come on Saturday -
stay and play a game if you'd like,
drop by and say 'Hello' if you're rushed,
contribute a buck or two
for the church's heat and light bills
if you can.
(or if you can donate something to the Thrift Shop
or Christmas Toy Drive, 'twould be appreciated)

Grownups, teens, 'tweens and children of all ages -
are invited
(although we hope they're old enough to realize
that the playing pieces aren't edible -
young children
should be accompanied by an adult.)
we'll try to make everyone feel welcome !

A variety of eating places are nearby,

There's no charge for attending or playing
at the Lansdowne Games Days,

Hoping to see you there !
Yours, John Desmond
