Thanks to those who voted in the Top 20 round which you can see -> here. 42 users participated (much more than the previous round) with a total of 522 votes cast!
I was looking to hike the minimum vote requirement to 10 votes to qualify for the next round, but because we had a lot more voters there was no need. "The Eagle Has Landed" got the least votes with 14.
So how are our Golden Ages holding up? Well of the Top 10 we have 3 from the 60s and 2 from the 00s. The oldest is still The 39 Steps from 1935.
An early indicator of the eventual winner is the films with the most "Best" ratings. Here are all those that got the most 'Best' ratings, with 10 or more:
14 North by Northwest (1959)
11 Hunt for Red October (1990)
11 Ronin (1998)
11 The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
North by Northwest re-takes the top spot from Bourne Identity, which falls off the list (9 bests). Goldfinger also drops off (9 Bests). Ronin and Red October move up. Bourne Supremacy is a new entry on this list.
In this next poll I have narrowed it down to the Top 10 based on average ratings. To calculate this I awarded points for each rating: Best (4), Awesome (3), Great (2), Good (1), Okay (0).
The Top Ten based on average rating for the last round are (ignoring the ones without the minimum number of votes):
North by Northwest (1959)
The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
The 39 Steps (1935)
Marathon Man (1976)
The Bourne Identity (2002)
Hunt for Red October (1990)
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
North by Northwest retains the top spot. The Manchurian Candidate blows in from nowhere to 2nd, 39 Steps is up from 5th, Ronin is also a new entry!
The Bourne Ultimatum falls off the list and misses the cut for the Top 10, as does the Eagle has Landed, The Man Who Knew Too Much and From Russia With Love.
Goldfinger narrowly makes the cut and takes the prize for Best Bond Movie.
The last 10 have been re-seeded based on their average rating in the last poll and split them into 2 brackets of 5 films. The top 2 from each bracket will make the next round, unless I have to fiddle the format in some way!
Select only 1 'Best' in each bracket, ideally by rating them all first and then upgrading an 'Awesome'. Here we go:
