My gaming group "The d5" are having their after-Christmas Christmas party. We get together, eat, game and exchange gifts.

This year we did a simple Secret Santa. Some people didn't care for the idea. So I got to thinking, how should we exchange next year? Which led to, How does a gaming geek exchange gifts? Yankee swap seems too beneath us.

I thought we could play a game of Descent and randomly assign numbers to the gifts and the treasure chests. Your character finds the chest, they get the gift that matches the number. I think it would be fun. And you actually would feel like you got a real live treasure!

Any ideas of your own?

The white elephant works well.

There's fun to be had getting a surprise, but generally it's better in the long run if the gift is targeted to the receiver.
