When I was younger, I recall that my parents had a bookshelf-style game lying around which involved vineyards and wines, and always looked sort of intriguing.

Now that I'm of an age to appreciate such things and asked my parents about it, they don't seem to remember ever having it, which probably means it has long since found its way into a dumpster or a garage sale.

All I can remember about it is that it was in a bookshelf-game style box roughly the size of the 3M bookshelf series, but I can't remember its colour or texture, and that the board was of a wine-growing region -- knowing my parents either the Rhineland or California, but it could have been another area.

I ran across the game Vino earlier today, which seems very similar, but is not remotely old enough, since I remember this game at least as far back as the early 80s or so.

Any ideas what it could have been?

Wow! Okay, yes and no. They certainly had that game, because I totally recognize the box art. So in one respect that's right.

But I'm now wondering if I'd mentally collapsed two games into one, because the contents I remember were more about buying up individual vineyards (and I even seem to recall little resource chips with wine casks on them or something like that) so I think there may have been a second different game.

Perhaps that's why I could remember whether it was Rhineland or California -- perhaps it was one of each?

Thanks for the answer. Any ideas what the other one might have been?

Sounds cool, but too recent by 10 or 15 years, and the box front isn't familiar at all....
