Am I the only person tired of the term "scratch my itch" as in,,,

"Paths of Glory really scratches my wargaming itch."

I'm all for free speech and stuff but I can't wait till this term finally dies out.

Is it better or worse than the overuse and varied permutations of, "I have a fever. And only prescription is more X"?

That got tiresome.

What else could we use to describe that feeling of "ohhhhhh that is sooooooo good--right there, ohhhhhhhhhhhh dayyyum don't stop."

...and is also child friendly?

Meh. I used it recently in a review of Through The Ages: Thoughts from a new TtA owner/player

The phrase that has been completely overused so it no longer has meaning is tour-de-force. Blech. That one needs to die a horrible, painful death.

I'm getting absolutely fed up with threads decrying one phrase or another overused.

This is just a gateway thread.

I will admit that clichés can get tiresome. That's why I avoid them like the plague.

Based on where my itch is that I am trying to scratch is the only time this term bothers me.

Come on! This has got to be the easiest verb-noun idiom in the world to replace with something else.

Paths of Glory really hits my wargaming spot.
Paths of Glory really floats my wargaming boat.
Paths of Glory really turns my wargaming crank.
Paths of Glory really tickles my wargaming pickle.
Paths of Glory really butters my wargaming muffin.
Paths of Glory really makes me smell my wargaming napalm in the morning.

I could go on and on...

Really, semantics is the last place you'll find lasting happiness and/or enlightenment.

Search for the truth behind the words; care less about which words were used.

i'd be interested in an alternate way to describe "delicious decisions?"

i always find myself thinking this but stop myself from saying it. just won't be able to take myself seriously if i repeat that phrase to someone in real life.
