Given the gaming hobby's semi-propensity to attract uber-competitive, ingracious, and crass individuals, has anyone ever witnessed or been in involved in a gaming session which devolved into a physical fracas?

These events obviously are rare, but given the wrong mix of personality types, game and beverage anything can happen. I've had opponents talk sh-t to my face which luckily I had just enough self-control not to throttle them, for which I'm thankful for.

Nevertheless, some of you out there must have been involved in a session that turned so sour that a cage or ring might have been a better venue than a gaming table.

Thanks for the replys.

No, never.

And they'll never find the bodies either.

Not that there are any.

Apparently you've been unfortunate. I've met many, many fine people while gaming over the years, so many that I won't attempt to count them. Collectively, I think gamers are much like any other group, with the normal mix of human strengths and weaknesses.

I haven't seen any player-on-player violence from anyone over the age of 12. (10 for girls.)

I did see a game of Jungle Speed get a little out of hand at Origins a couple years ago. Band-aids were required, but the paramedics weren't called.

Not even close - in fact, I've never met a core gamer that I would have thought even had it in them to turn physical.

Strangely, one of my gamer friends does seem to be a big fan of UFC though...

When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning

How is that strange? MMA is an immensely tactical sport (most of the time, anyway).

I trained in jiu jitsu for a number of years. I enjoy combat sports, in particular boxing and MMA. I'm also a boardgamer. Didn't realize that was strange.

As for the OP, I saw a couple guys get into a fight over a D&D game back when we were kids... but that was just kids being kids. I also had to kick some kids out of the store I managed because they got into fisticuffs over a game of Heroscape but, again, kids being (unruly) kids isn't really unexpected.

Never witnessed adults get into it.

I recieved Ikusa when I was young. It's been a birthday gift ..

What did my friends do as soon as I opened the box?

"SWORDS! COOL! Take this! Take that! Hit you! Missed! Did not! Did, too!" ..

Well .. what a wonder, they are still intact ..

Nowadays a similar scenario would work quite well with Ugg-Tect ..
Which is just one reason, why I'd never go for this game ..
