I'm looking for game recommendations that meet the following criteria:
- Don't require dice or something else that makes noise
- Can be custom made to fit into something the size of an Altoids (mint) tin
- Can be played on something the size of a 3x5 card
- Preferably can be played without a solid/stable playing surface.
- Can be played 'incognito', i.e. without disturbing people around us, should we be sitting in an auditorium for a long work meeting.

So far, I have ideas for making a game tin that can accommodate games such as Nine Men's Morris, Checkers/Chess/Go/anything else that can be played on an 8x8 or perhaps 9x9 square board, and some other 'classic' board games. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has any suggestions for stuff that I might be missing.

I did already pore through the two portable games threads that I found in these forums, but those seemed to be primarily concerned with portability and not small play space.

Any suggestions?

How about this?

OK, admit it. It's the first thing we all thought of.

I have played Chess, Connect 4 and the Dots game on small sections of paper. You would need a pencil with a good eraser.

Will let you know if I come up with anything else.

There are several ATO postcard games which are very small, and which use a deck of cards for combat resolution. Stand at Mortain, Some Poles Apart: The Battle of the Westerplatte, maybe some others in the Pocket Battle Games series.

There's a tiny-size edition of Heckmeck, and yes, it comes in a mint tin box:

Unfortunately, it does have dice. Maybe you can put some felt in the lid and use it for "stealth dice throwing"? Since they are really small I don't expect much noise from it.

Edit: Link to game
