Just ordered it - and waiting for a direct hit in my mailbox (the big analog one).

Reading the rules now - with a lot of help found in

Lou's Game Corner
Link at bottom section. Recommended!

And the small q:

Anyone knows what the (family) symbols are? Eagle? Hand? Gauntlet? Pizzapan?

(Just a wiki link will do)

Thanks!!

That is the AH Edition. The VG varies slightly. It looks like Crown was replaced by Sun.

The 6 faction symbols can be seen here (the gold chunk toward the bottom left):

No, I think that is still intended to be a crown; a strange looking one yes but a crown still.

Crown? Why would it be a crown? In the Republic?

I don't know. The example of play I received had a "tower" faction that didn't make the final cut. The symbol is clearly a sun, possibly a star. I don't think it is a crown at all.

I was wondering what that was, Brian. It is a strange sort of Crown if that is what it is supposed to be - more like a pointy, scary, torture thingy...gulp

Gosh! Don't you guys recognize the NINJA THROWING STAR when you see it?

I got 20 plastic ninjas... just for this game as a result.

Well Rome was once ruled by kings...and there was a "civic crown" which was a military award to a victorious commander.

The Roman Republic had a great hatred for kings. The closest they got to a crown was the "Grass crown", awarded for saving a legion, and the civic crown, which was a wreath woven from oak leaves. Neither was a real "crown". There was also a "mural crown" for scaling a wall in battle, which looks like what we would recognise as a crown today.

(Google- what a wonder!)

It looks like a sun to me.

The old version had the mural crown (but no one has uploaded the image here).
