What's this? Why, it's the Hiller Flying Platform! It flew in 1955.

We're enjoying Runewars quite a bit. Lots of juicy elements that mesh very well. The only thing that bugs us is that the tiles don't have names. In other tiles games, like Twilight Imperium, you can lament how you lost big-time in the Velnor-Lisis system, or in Magic Realm how the monster fight in the Crags was the deciding factor. But in Runewars, we have the epic battle of....9A! It sounds like an apartment complex. We need some names for these locations!

I agree, actually... some of the hexes have names on the quest cards that give you a flavor of the pace but it would be cool to somehow have a name for all the tiles.

In Battlemist, each hex had a "name"; as mentioned, many of the quest cards name the areas, but it would be nice to have them printed on the hex as well.

I like having the number there, just to make it easy to find the quest location, but the names would have been even cooler; no reason they couldn't have BOTH

Having names for the different locations is a good idea. It would make the game even more immersive and would make the quests more interesting.

Because the hex areas are joined together into large map pieces, you could even have named locations that spread across 2 or 3 areas. Quests could then say "Go to the Darkwood Forest and test your wisdom", instead of "Go to 6A and test wisdom". The quests and areas (or named locations) could still have identifiers to make it easier to identify what quest card matches with what map piece during game setup. I also don't think that having locations for quests be multiple hex areas would affect much. So a hero might have to travel one less hex area to get to the location. No big deal.

Of course these changes will not happen in this game or it's (possible) expansions, but it's fun to think about nonetheless.

I suppose if someone wanted to get really creative they could use a label maker with an appropriate font and a clear label to put names on every hex. You could do the same thing for the cities. They're all named in either Runebound or Descent: Road to Legend, aren't they? It might be nice if someone at FF did an article that gave us the names for the areas, if they're not obvious from other games in the same universe.

Indeed, it should have some theme on those tiles!

The cities do indeed all appear on the map of Descent: Road to Legend. Using the numbers on the Runewars tiles from left to right to identify them they are:

0321 Forge (the one in the mountains)
1121 Tamalir (the fortress)
1211 Greyhaven (on a hill)
1221 Frostgate (the green-brown houses)
1032 Riverwatch (the one with the river)
2112 Vynelvale (the tower attached to a large house)
2211 Nerekhall (with the windmill)
