Hi,

Can you play a war card if the DEFCON prevents coups or realignments ?
ex. : DEFCON 3 / Korean war

Do war cards played as events decreases the DEFCON ?

Yes, you can play the cards.

No, the war cards do not decrease DEFCON.

Yes, you can play any event regardless of defcon.

There are no war cards that reduce the defcon. In first edition Korean War did but it was errataed and changed with the second edition onward.

As an aside, what's the definition of a "war card" in TS? Are they just any event with the word "War" in the title or text?

Yes:
Brush War, Korean War, Arab-Israel War and India-Pakistan War (Did I miss any?)

The all have basically the same effect, swapping your opponents influence for yours on a die roll. They all give you military ops and vp if the war is sucsessful. They are also all give the US -vp if flower power is in effect.
