Do the non-player cards start face-down or face-up? Very important detail when using for instance the airstrike card which can only be used against REVEALED targets?

Non-player cards are shuffled and placed face down in regards to the decks. Non-player unit cards are always placed face up on the map tiles intially during set-up or when they come as reinforcements. Good question.

Chuck this is at odds with the answer supplied earlier

"Q. In Solo games are reinforcements for player and non-player cards placed hidden

A. Yes, unless placed next to enemy unit cards, which means most reinforcements for the non-player will probably be placed face up.
"

This is critical as they cannot be targeted by Air strikes or similar if they are hidden.

In the Metz-solo scenario, normally reinforcements can only "pop-up" by US-units moving next to cities, villages, towns and forts. In that way they would always be placed face-up with dug-in markers.

I have some other questions as well.

1. Is there any need for a bluff card for both player and non-player side?

2. Do the King Tiger and The Waffen SS move VERTICALLY forward (since the Waffen SS can also move diagonally forward)?

The Q. was not scenario specific and was about Starting placement not reinforcements , which will depend on the scenario and proximity of enemy forces.
