So how does one get a link [geekurl=http://tinyurl.com/yfbhr4e]like this[/geekurl] to display properly? Mine all look wonky!

geekurls are for linking specifically to content on this site.

For external links, use just plain ole url.

That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

I always forget how to do this.

Mark this geeklist as one of your favourites.

It's a good reminder for how to do one or two clever things while posting ...

Thank you, those are both very helpful!

Why do you have red frames of varying intensity on your posts? And why is my once-bold blue frame fading away?

If you've subscribed to a thread, red frames indicate new posts. If you visit a thread through a direct link, the post the link takes you to is highlighted with bold blue. The faded blue is the default.

The red frames are messages you haven't red; blue are those you've seen before (and the traditional look of the site). The bright borders, red or blue, are the target of the URL: click on any "Posted [ date/time ]" at the bottom of a post to see this.
