Last night during our second play, we encountered a situation that wasn't immediately clear how to handle. One of the season cards (can't recall which or the exact wording) says something like, "The player with the highest influence chooses a city in a non-controlled neutral area and destroys it!' Something to that effect anyway.

I thought you were supposed to keep the amount of tokens you have a secret and if so, how would you resolve this card without revealing how many influence tokens you have?

Hopefully this makes sense and someone can provide some insight for me. Perhaps I'm just missing the obvious! blush

Your token count is not secret. In fact, before any Influence Bid, you MUST declare how much you have (per page 31).

I think the Season Card you are referring to is "Fires of Heaven", a Summer Season. And that one isn't based on whover has the highest influence, but the highest BIDDER: IE, whoever bids the most.

The influence is always public, because it's the second tiebreaker (after "lowest order card").

Thanks Scott. Not sure why we both thought that we were supposed to keep our tokens secret ... but we did!

1.) So in the situation (in a two player game) where Player_1 has zero tokens and Player_2 has two tokens, Player_2 just has the advantage of knowing that Player_1 cannot bid? Therefore Player_2 can just bid one token knowing he's going to win?

2.) If both Players have one or more Influence Tokens and a Season Card starts an Influence Bid, are both Players required to bid at least one Influence Token? Can both Players opt to bid zero tokens even if they have one or more tokens?

Thanks for the assist!

Unless Player_1 had the "Primarch of the Wizards Council" Title card, Player_2 can bid ZERO tokens and win! If the bid is tied, whoever has the most unspent influence amongst the tied players chooses who wins the tie.

Players are never required to bid any tokens. If all players bid 0 tokens, then the winner is determined by the tiebreaker: First, whoever has the most unspent influence; if that's still tied, whoever has the most STARTING influence.
