Hi all, I'd like to know which games are you keep playing since your first days of gamers, and why...

For me is Advanced Heroquest, just because it was the first and I'm still playing it often.

(sorry if there is a post already related with this stuff, I was searching but find none If previously exist, I'll be glad to know please)

I play a lot of games that are relatively new to me. The only game I have played more than 3 times in the past year that I have been playing for more than 5 years is Chess. I still play it primarily because my stepson and my middle nephew are now into it.

I remember playing Pachisi, as a very young child, with my brother and sister. Now, I play it with my granddaughters, who are five.

Great! In Spain is called "parchís", sounds very close to english "pachisi", and looking for the origin of the name I could read it means "twenty-five" in hindi language, because originally it was played using 25 cowrie shells.

I guess Monopoly eventually will be the most frequent answer, but I was wrong as I can see... laugh

I first played Dominoes when I was a kid and my mom bought a set at the local store.

After that, there was a very long gap in my life where I didn't play or even think about dominoes.

Then, in recent years, I got interested and learned some good domino games. I don't often play with others (sometimes with my wife); usually on the PC or Palm PDA.

Risk, Rummikub, and Monopoly.

And it is not for a want of a better game, as I have better ones and enjoy them more. It is because these games were/are very simple to teach and can be found (at least the first and the last) at nearly anyone's house that I visit.

Titan, Empire Builder ,Cosmic Encounter and The Fury of Dracula are some games that I have been playing for years now. I play a lot more new games lately, but the classics are classic for a reason!

Played Uncle Wiggily with my 5yr. old a couple of nights ago. I learned to play it with my Dad and Grandmother on my Dad’s copy from the 1949 printing. We’ll have to play that copy again when we go to visit family for the holidays, although maybe we should use different pieces. There’s probably quite a bit of lead in that paint.

This will probably show how young I am, but my oldest memory of a game is playing Puerto Rico with my family. They would never let me win, and so my sister and I lost and lost until we we finally got good enough to take down my dad. This gave me a love of games, and made me the gamer I am today.

Games I've been playing for 25+ years:

Bridge
Civilization
Euchre
Acquire
Monopoly
Mr. President
Smess
Stratego
Thinking Man's Golf
Win, Place and Show

(Requiring at least one play since the start of 2009, at least one play 1985 or earlier, and some pattern of plays in between. Pinochle fails on the "some pattern of plays in between" front, Hearts on the "one play since the start of 2009" front. The plays of Monopoly and Win, Place and Show have been the most sparse.)

Finally there are some Monopolies over here. In my case I stopped playing Monopoly, Risk... when I discover the D&D world, mhh... 15 years ago or so.

I've a son 3 years old and I'd like he grows playing Catan, Agricola, Dominion... every year, hope those great games becomes their oldest games alive!

Since I was a kid:
Careers (revived with my kids now)...say....1975

Since I started buying my own games (still a kid, but an older one):
Advanced Squad Leader, which for the purposes of this thread I will view as an extension of Squad Leader, which I started in on in 1980.

If you're talking about the oldest EURO game I still play, it's Bohnanza. We've got two copies: the older one we bring to parties and my siblings and I play the newer version at home. :-D We've had it about nine years now.

Well, I probably first played Scrabble in about 1968 and played it 100+ times last year.

I've played Sports Illustrated Baseball since it came out in 1970 (well, the season was 1970).

I've played Poker and Casino since I could reasonably hold cards (let's peg that around 1966 or 67).

And then there are the recent finds like Acquire, which I started playing around the same time I started playing Trivial Pursuit in 1981. Actually, we may have played Acquire a few times in the last '70s.

We played Jeopardy! from the time it first came out (1964) and went through edition after edition up until I graduated from college. So, if I still played it (is it still updated every six months or so? Doubtful), it would be tops on the list.

Hmmm...

In January we dug out an played Red Storm Rising twice. The first time was with the basic rules to refamiliarize ourselves with the game, the second time was the full advanced rules. None of us had played it since about 1992, or about 17 years. We were going to play Hunt for Red October WWIII scenario and then link the two games, but the snow has significantly delayed that endeavor.

Last November, we played a game of Iron Clads (original Yaquinto version). That was one of my very first games, I started playing it in 1982 and played up to about 1992, then moved on because gaming had changed.
