My wife and I adopted our son from Russia, he is almost 4 and started to get interested in games along the lines of checkers. While he mostly doesn't get it yet, I thought it might be fun to introduce our family to some traditional Russian games.

I googled it, but didn't see any sort of consensus. Are there any Russian geeks who could share any traditional Russian boardgames that get played by kids as they grow up?

Thanks!

Looks like he'll be playing lots and lots of chess.

Oh, and Werewolf was invented by a professor at Moscow State University.

Try a Wikipedia search for Russian card games and you'll discover Durak, Preference, Eralash and Svoyi Koziri. You can even post those last two in the BGG database in your son's honor.

Cheers!
