Ok this is my first post here, so I'll apologize in advance if I'm: posting in the wrong area, or bending/ breaking any rules. Yes I work at a hobby store but my goal here is not to advertise! Rather too share the rules we are trying to play with and develope, as well as hopefully collect a few ideas that could help us along.

So we want to do a bomber campaign with miniatures, and well a picture is worth a 1000 words:

Note the red firing arcs are fix, however the turrets shown in yellow labeled either Dorsal/Ventral may choose where they face. This action is done after everyone has plotted, but before any maneuver cards are played.

Movement is 4" a turn for the bombers, this is again done after plotting, but before the first maneuver cards are played. Table shown is a 4'X 6', allowing us to use lots fighters & bombers.

Able to take 42 points of damage, bombers often draw more intresting damage tokens like: fires, crewmen hit, and engine damage. Fires are resovled normally,a wounded crewmen will be unable to fire till another crewmenber abondons his position to take his spot. A damaged engine reduces the bombers movement by 1 with a max of 3 damaged engines before it begins to lose altitude at rate of a peg(level) per turn.

As right now with only having test flown the B-17s in pickup games, they seem to being doing well. Arguements over the damage is our biggest issue: with the turrets deal a B long range /B B short, and the fixed guns dealing A long / A B short. The Bombers can deal serious damage to an unlucky pilot, but these are called Flying Fortress for a reason.

We have played with both the bomber headed to target with there escorts starting with them, as well as coming home with their escorts scrambling to enagage and assist. Thus far the allies have been sucessful in getting the bombers to target, but not so much getting home.

In the wings we are hammering out the rules for Axis bombers as well. Four D 217 ,Two He 111, and a pair of V1 buzz bombs are underway. Most of these minis are Jwing big birds, custom stands being built by the stores veteran games & hobbyman Jeff.

Thanks for your time all, and let me know what you think.

We haven't gotten the rules on paper yet since we are still in tossing in new ideas every game. However I let Jeff know about your request and hopefully I can get you a written set late friday, after he brings the bombers in to play next. I'll pull the planes and bases aside for some clear pictures with rulers next to them so I can deliver better specs.

As for scale, yes those are 1/144 B-17s by "Jwings: Big Birds volume 3", sadly its a blind packaging set so theres alot of luck involve. But being prepainted, snap-togethers, that only require you glue a peice of its own spur to fit on WOW pegs; makes them our best choice thus far. Volume 3 also contains Donnier 217 we are working on getting airborn.

The only 1/200 bombers we've been able to bring in are by "Model Power": the "B-29 Enola Gay" and "Avro Lancaster", both of which are diecast.

Sorry to make you wait, but I can try to answer any question you have in the meantime.

Hoping you will get it down on paper someday!

But.... the B-17 had 8-10 MGs and I only see two red and two yellow firing arches on your plane. Why is this? whistle

Right now I have 12 1/144 fighters (mostly German) and 3 or 4 1/144 B-17s and 1 or 2 German He-111 (B-17 and He-111 still to be assembled) which I bought for my "B-17: Queen of the Skies" game.

Don't really understand why noone else is commenting on your brave piece of work???? shake
