Back in the 80's there was a dungeon crawl game where you had a box that included a board and metal miniatures for painting. I got rid of it as a kid and am trying to figure out what the name of it is so I can search for it. Any takers on someone who might have heard of this?

Could it be Dungeons & Dragons Computer Labyrinth Game? It had metal miniatures, and you had to find treasure, walls, and avoid the dragon, but I'm not sure it qualifies as a dungeon crawl.

That's a pretty broad range. Anything you can remember that might narrow it down? Did you use a completed static game board, or were tiles used? Dice involved? Cards, or unique characteristics?

Taking a pure stab, how about DungeonQuest?

Edit: the base game came with plastic miniatures but an expansion included metal miniatures.

Or more concretely:
Crypt of the Sorcerer
and/or
Caverns of Doom

These are what I thought of also, but couldn't remember the titles till I saw dungeonmattser's comment. Nostalgia!

There's a review which describes the games:

My edit? Could be that instead of the base?

I believe I have several of the minis for this and the ruleset for Caverns. The board was a one fold top down map.

THE BEST thing was a 3-D version I saw at GenCon 09, where a person sculpted the whole dungeon in 3-D. It was FANTASTIC..

Try http://www.dungeon-dwellers.info/ for a fansite dedicated to
reviving this game.

I believe the map went in a box I sold to Troll and Toad at GenCon, but
I have 1 or two of the minis if you are interested.
