What is the best American Civil War game that GMT makes? I would say that it is For The People! What do you think?

I think since I added UKC the OP has added American.

Before he did that I thought he must be mad as I think For the People is the worst Civil War game ever.

I know my history yet I didn't recognise any of the Generals, where was Cromwell? The change to the New Model Army doesn't even get a mention (yet it was one of the most important events), the map, what rubbish...where'sLondon.

Utter rubbish

Well, I'm afraid it'll have to wait. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?

Reminds me of an earlier post of mine, in regards to Mr. Brown and his fixation with civil wars: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/458715/my-new-geeklist-and-s...

As to the post, I'm partial to Glory III.

I was wondering when you would join us.

I nearly got Glory III, I quite like Glory II but the size of it meant I never really got to play it properly

Tough call here. Any of the GBACW series games deserves consideration, from The Three Days Of Gettysburg (first edition) (all three editions) straight through Dead of Winter (second edition). The Glory series is another winner, with the latest iteration, Glory III being the best of them. You really can't go wrong with any of these.

deftly avoided war...I remember those days of the Quebec Succession Crisis from the news...fascinating.

It might be a fascinating game usinf a modified Twilight struggle system, or something similar.

Of course, now you folks are putting up with Canuckistani issues - my watching of 'Little Mosque on the Prairie' is entertaining and informative.

:smirk: Canada... Civil Wars ...

clearly not hockey fans ... I remember some great Canadiens vs Nordiques playoffs - and not to mention Edmonton vs Calgary either ... those are always some great battles- made better by the playoffs where you play until there is a winner (no shootouts).

In the wonderful game, Bonaparte at Marengo, this is how to get nasty Frenchies out of a village.

I haven't played nearly enough of them, but I do believe that more folks need to try Blue vs. Gray; that one's a fun one.
