Guess the subject line could have as easily been "A foolish conceit". A few months ago I was taught Valdora, a light pick up deliver game, involving brightly colored and sparkling gems. I really enjoyed playing it even though it is very different than my usual favorties.

I must have talked about it a bit because someone wondered if I wanted it for Christmas. "Oh no" ,I say "it isn't my kind of game." But I'm still thinking about the game. Ok, ok I WANT the game. Do you have a guilty secret game too?

There's nothing guilty about it. It's just a game.

It's not like saying you like Enya...

I'll fess up to liking a slew of licensed stuff, including Lord of the Rings, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marvel Heroes, and Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game.

I also still like Clue, even the Simpsons version. Tried Mystery of the Abbey, which was described to me as "Clue for grownups," but still thought Clue was more enjoyable.

No, I don't know. You don't have to be embarrassed, you're among friends. Just go ahead and say it, no one will judge.

Dominion I can't believe I like a resource management game that uses victory points...My standing within the Fantasy Flight Games coalition is in danger of collapsing. I suppose my use of the top 20 as a reverse barometer is off on this one. I think I'll go hide my shame in a game of runebound or runewars.

Mine is "Sorry." I know it's a kid's game, and it's been around forever, but I still like it as a time-waster-- but only when we play with a five card hand as suggested in the official variant in the rules. *That* is what makes the game fun. :-D Strategy Sorry with two players and four colors is awesome. Getting eight pieces into Home to win is much harder.

And dude, I was playing Sorry with people a few years ago who never even played using the special abilities of the cards and only played "draw" Sorry! Now THAT would be a boring game!

Sorry is also one of the earliest board games I remember playing besides Monopoly-- way back before we discovered Scotland Yard. :-)

OK, this is truly old school, but I once had to explain to my old gaming buddies (Squad Leader classic, Third Reich types) that One World with its rock-paper-scissors combat system wasn’t really that bad.

After some more thought I realised that it is the trash talk that this game generates that I like.

Mystery of the Abbey is Clue with more bells and whistles.

Okay, no whistles and one bell.

Mystery of the Abbey is Clue: The Party Game. gulp I'd play Clue over MotA any day of the week.

It's ok. Dominion has randomness all over, direct attack cards....it's practically Ameritrash. (*Waits for its rating to plummet.* )
