It means they don't have the same value for the number next to the horse head.

For example, in the picture above, Armed and Busher have the same primary movement as they both have a value of 4 next to the horse head (click on the picture to zoom in).

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you're asking here. The game has a suggested variant where none of the horses should have the same primary movement to allow for different styles of horses.

You can choose whether to use this variant or not.

The game plays the same regardless of whether you use this variant or not - the only thing it affects is the initial selection of the horses in the race.

We enjoy using it to get different types of horses in the game. If you make sure that the primary value doesn't match, you should get horses that vary more in the other three values as well, giving you different type of choices when placing your bets.

Some horses are sure and steady (those with higher primary values, but low values in the other 3 areas), some sprinters (they go a ton of spaces if they get lucky and get the one roll they need), as well as 2 other types (don't remember what they are right now). The game is fun either way - this variant just mixes up the types of horses on the track.

If you don't play the variant, you could potentially have alot of sure and steady horses without alot of variety or risky all out horses. With the variant, you have to decide whether to go sure and steady or take a shot with an all or nothing type horse.
