It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

Tonight will be my first ever* Bachelor party that I will attend. There will be no stereotypical stuff. (thank God)

It will take place at NaBrasa: Brazilian Steakhouse.

Basically it's like this: a bunch of waiters have meat on a sword of various types. You pick one and they slice it off. An unlimited amount of meat... on a sword.

Huzzah!

Unlimited meat + sword = awesome

-DK

* - Yes I have gone to two others... my own (which consisted of watching Family Guy on DVD) and another good ole' Christian one... where we basically sat around and talked.

Don't let being Christian keep you from having a good time. By the way at my Bachelor party one of my best men, the one who was living local and who also is a long-time vegetarian brought me to an Argentine restaurant. So yes it was a bit of a meat fest.

I went to one in Houston for a friends and mines birthday celebrations. So many different kinds of meat. Including some really badass sweetbreads.

The whole meat-sword thing cannot be touted highly enough. I think I shaved a couple years off my life in one of those places in Texas, once.

Speaking of meat-swords, my bachelor party consisted of pizza and someone shoplifting a copy of Playboy. Really put the "me" in "lame." I have since been tasked with putting on two bachelor parties myself, and I have more than made up for my groomsmen's lack of depravity. Highlights I will cop to include clay Hobbit pipes for everyone, with a selection of fine tobaccos, and the much vaunted SAN KILLER. It's an agglomeration of the most rarified and incomprehensible porn known to Man... tastes that take whole lifetimes to cultivate... delivered all at once. It's not so much "drinking from the firehose" as it is desperately trying to hold yourself together to keep from bursting.

The last time it was deployed it made the teetotaler groom vomit while eating an oatmeal cookie.

In the words of Pete Correale (comedian *and* my HS friend/basketball teammate), "you're not having a party; you're having a meeting."

Another one to my list of Brazilian steakhouses to check when in USA. If any of you come to these lands I can talk you to some awesome ones.

Am I the only one?

It just doesn't sound right taking about batchlor parties and meat fest (or meat swords) in the same conversation.

It just doesn't sound right.

Your math needs work.

Unlimited meat = awesome

sword = awesome

Unlimited meat + sword = 5 x awesome

No, it's NOT 2 x awesome. That's not how awesome math works.

Some co-workers and I went to a place like that in Dayton a few months ago. The Hostess told us when we sat down that there would be 16 different types of meat prepared that night.
I told her I thought that sounded like a challenge.

In the end, I only made it to 12. If I'd exercised just a bit more restraint, I think I could have made it.

Delicious.

And Jeff's math is sound, you should be looking forward to levels of Awesome in the 5x range.

By the way, if anyone need any kind of advice on Brazilian\Argentine meat cuts (which are leaner, which are fatter) I will be more than glad to help. I love cooking meat, doing barbecues and talking about meat cuts in general.

I read: "Going to a Bachelor Party tonight" and so I started to click.

Then, I read: "No not that kind" and I decided not to click.

Then, I decided to click just to tell you that.

Now I'm here to tell you this:
Pete Correale should have wrote:
"you're not having a party; you're having a meating."

And everytime I read "Brazilian" in this thread, I remind myself "No, not that kind."

So David K... how was it? I hope you stayed away from the salad bar and left room for meat!

Caipirinhas are good things to wash down your meal with too.

Did you have any other those little cheese breads? Those are the best!

The Na Brasa location I have been to in Porto Alegre Brazil also serves pineapple dusted with sugar and cinammon then heated over the coals on a long skewer/sword. If you are lucky, they did this for you too.

We do this kind of thing at home too.

heheh they are. Other typical good things: melted mozzarella knots and Garlic bread (a normal bread laced with garlic butter roasted)

It normally has both types, with and without cinnamon. Without is normally served cold and not heated. The idea is to have the acid of the pineapple help you digest your meal.

And Khant, what was more daunting? the skewers\swords or the huge knives close to your neck when slicing the meat?
