There must be some games out there wherein the players go mining/panning for gold (or similar goodies). Could I get a specific title or two from you knowledgeable folks?

Not the focus of the game by any means, but Pocket Civ has mining in it (and its a wonderful - and free - PnP.

Eureka is a neat little gold mining game by Ravensburger. I think it's out of print, but it looks like some of the geeks 'round these parts have been able to find it via thrifting. My family usually had a very enjoyable time trying to collect as much gold as we could while avoiding being robbed by one of the other players. If someone got too greedy... they knew what was coming!

Both Sutter's Mill and Oregon feature gold mining, albeit in a quite abstract way.

Thanx, folks, for the tips . . .

"Whatever happened to Big Apple?"

It is sitting; one company is interested, but it will take some time.

Well, not really *mining* per se as much as "looting ancient temples"

In Boomtown players all control gold mines which occasionally produce gold.

I'm thinking more long the lines of a game about hunting for gold similar to the movie, "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" . . . (each player gets two
stinking badges") . . .

Silverton. Your prospector opens mines, and you use dice each time you operate a mine to see how much it produces with a chance of it depleting. The other two parts of the game are building the train network to transport goods and managing your money by selling goods on a fluctuating market.
