And I’m pretty chuffed with the results.

I've posted some pics in my gallery if you'd like to have a look. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/images/user/228966/damjon

I saw the original idea here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/219295/war-of-the-ring

though after reading the list and even geek mailing the maker, there didn’t seem to be any chance of picking one up.

I had to have one, so I made my own.

Yes, it is basically the same model. I want to make it clear that I am not claiming any part of the inspiring original creation & excellent idea of Garzini.

I have added my own take on the original: a slightly bigger model base to completely cover the steps marked on the gameboard, tengwar numerals, slightly larger steps for the fellowship model and a lava flow that comes down the side of the mountain and onto the steps. It’s hard to see the lava flow (needs a paint job to show it). I’m picking up some paints tonight. I’ll post a pic of the finished piece when it’s done.

I was a little surprised at how easy it was to do a resin cast. I'll have to see what else I can cast in resin. Perhaps money game tokens, maybe extra figurines, the cat...Muhahahaha!devil

Re: Mt. Doom - My first attempt at resin modelling…
Now that you have taken the time to show the steps in pictures... eh, how about a pictorial walkthrough on "How to make your own"? I have no idea on how to take a clay mold and turn it into a resin mountain... VERY COOL mountain! OR... should I say, your mountain is HOT Baby!

Can't wait to see finished mountain!

Funny you should say that. I'm a putting together a draft How-To. Should be finished soon...

Thanks for the compliments on the mountain. I hope my painting skills do it justice. it's been awhile since I've painted anything.

Well, the model is finished. I'm not 100% happy with the paint job, but it's done.
