In anticipation of the full release of this game from Cambridge Games Factory, I thought I'd try doing a play-by-forum game here.

Okay, we have four now, which is where I'd start the "Best With" rating for this game (4-8), so I'm open to starting whenever. How about we wait until 24 hours have passed since the last person signs up?

The game plays quite similar to the solo game. Instead of one hero walking around in the house, it's a group, and you all stick together in the house. The goals are the same, get the evil totem, take it out to graveyard and bury it. Time moves the same, and you still need to bury it by midnight, or zombies take over.

Each turn, on player will be the leader, and they'll get to make most of the decisions for that turn. First, they choose to either Move, Cower, or Special (special is only available in a room with text on the tile, like the temple, or the storage room).

Cowering gives one health to everyone, and discards a card (takes "time").

If the leader chooses to move, and there's an item in the room, the leader gets to choose if they search for it, and who gets it. Non-zombie events (blessings or curses) on the cards effect the leader (ex: candybar in pocket +1 health for leader), although once someone is carrying the totem, curses only effect the totem-carrier.

When zombies are encountered, the group has a moment to talk about a plan, and then everyone, individually, decides whether they will Fight or Flee. If everyone flees, everyone loses one health (like the run away in the PnP game), and the leader chooses which room to escape into.

If at least one person chooses to fight, anyone that chose to flee gains one health (they hide in the corner and rest while their friends fight).

Anyone that chose to fight adds their combat scores together (everyone starts off at '1'), including any weapons they choose to use. To calculate damage, take the number of zombies, and subtract the summed combat scores. Players involved in the fight (so, not including the players that fled) divide the damage as evenly as possible, any remaining damage points are dealt out as the leader chooses (but may only give one of the remaining points to any one player).

Example of combat:
8 Zombies encountered

Each player decides in secret (but my announce their intentions, and is not bound by the announcement), and then reveals their choice of Fight or Flee:
KS 4 health Flee
AT 4 health Fight
VL 4 health Fight current leader
W 4 health Fight

No one has any weapons.

KS adds one health (going to 5), because he's hiding in the corner while the rest fight.

AT, VL, and W all have 1 CS, so we add them up to 3. There are 8 zombies, so 8-3=5 damage.

Five damage divided as evenly as possible is 3, with 2 remaining. AT, VL, and W all go down 1, to 3 each. Then VL (the current leader of the gang) divides the other 2 points, giving one to AT, and one to W.

KS 5 health
AT 2 health
VL 3 health
W 2 health


After a turn is over, the leader card is passed to the next player (clockwise), and the game continues.

Huh. I forget, let me check the rules. - In the copy I have, and I think it's the ruleset we ended up with, it's the tallest player that gets to lead first.

A note I forgot:
It's a win, cooperatively, if the players take care of the zombie infestation.

If you're playing more than one game, you can play for points, and the 'semi' in semi-cooperative comes in more. The player with the most health gets 4 points for a win, everyone else still alive gets 3. In a loss, the last person alive gets 1 point.

The adventurers hear terrible screams as they move through the door off the foyer, and find themselves in a pleasant family room. The room, at first, appears to be empty, but the shuffling noise suggests otherwise. There are 10 invisible zombies here.


Note, the 'type' of zombie has no effect, it's just for flavor.

Discussion, let's say for at most 24 hours max, or until everyone sends me their Fight or Flee decision. If no decision is submitted at the 24 hour deadline, you are assumed to have fought.

-If 1 of us flees - One dies, 2 take 2 damage (-3,-2,-2,+1)
-If 2 of us flees - Both die (-3,-3,+1,+1)

Everyone FIGHTS!

There are 10 zombies - 4 combat skill = 6 damage

Everyone takes 1 damage, and then Andrew doles out the remaining two, and must do so to two different people.
