I get an error "not a valid Vassal module" when I load the module from GMT's site. I downloaded it several times. The file name is BattleForNormandy_1.11. What's going on?

Do you have the latest version of Vassal?

I'm far from an expert on this, but the module's designer, Joel Toppen is and I know he's always will to answer questions.

Is his email address in the module? If not, I'll get it to you.

I have the same Problem.
But the older version 1.1. is running on my machine.

I use the newest VASSAL version 3.1.14.

Best regards
Chris

If you're using Windows Explorer, it may be changing the file extension to .zip when you download the mod. I've had a couple of friends that had this problem...change the file extension to .vmod and you should be ok.

Windows...It knows what you want to do and does it for you.yuk

I am using Vassal 3.1.14. The file extension is .vmod. If I could have his email address that would be great.

It is not a .vmod extension it is actually a .vmod.zip extension. Your Windows has file extensions turned off so is not seeing the true extension type .zip part
(btw - Joel - please dont name your files of type 1.11.vmod.zip - i.e multiple periods, its bad practice and may confuse systems/users - case in point, use the underscore for version separation. There should only be 1 period between file name and actual extension)

You have to extract the vmod from within the zip file itself using winzip or similar zip utility - windows has own utility by default

The file that I download is a zip file and I am extracting it with winzip but I'm still getting the error when I try to load the file.

The vmod inside the zip does indeed seem to be corrupt

Joel did respond to my geekmail. He didn't know what's wrong with the GMT Zip file, but did send a link to the VMOD on Mediafire:

Battle for Normandy Vassal Module (V1.11)
I used Bit.Ly as the file name had a space that the corrupted the URL tags.

I downloaded the file and it worked just fine. Joel did gave me permission to post the link.

Link above is dead and I can't get the one from GMT to open. Any idea where to find it in a form you can use?

Same problem here. Can anyone redirect us to a valid vassal module for BfN?
Thanks

I just downloaded the module from GMT Games without any problems.

The file is a VMOD.ZIP file still, so you will need to extract the VMOD from the ZIP file. The VMOD file I just downloaded worked just fine in Vassal. What exact issues are you having?

The problem is for the Mac version. I downloaded the program and module for PC and works fine. Thanks anyway.
