Hi, fellow crafters

Performing a search here on the forums for "pnp terrain" I foud out, that there are obviously tons of sites offering free dungeon-stuff ..

But a bit of sci-fi terrain?
Well, there is germy's site (www.germy.co.uk) providing some cool buildings for a down-town setting, and basically this is, what I am looking for ..

So - are there any other sites offering cool and most preferably free printable buildings?
(I'm well aware of pay-to-print sites like worldworksgames with their high-quality-oh-my-god-my-poor-printer stuff, so I'm not too eager to buy printable terrain)

Or do you have at least any hints like which terms I could use to perform a successful google search?

Up to now, I searched for "print and play terrain", leading me to a thread I posted in a different forum, as well as "print and play tabletop accessory" - both in English as well as in German ..
No success

Thanks for reading/thinking/posting,
Kai

Had the idea of gathering links here in this initial posting!

Good idea!

Let's go:

http://www.germy.co.uk - Easy to assemble sci-fi buildings. Very clean looks.

http://sarna.net/files/media/cardstock/ - 6mm buildings, designed for battletech

http://www.dp9.com/index.php?option=com_jotloader&view=categ... - Buildings designed for the Heavy Gear: Blitz tabletop

http://www.rengels.de/warhammer/articles/bunker/index.html - A WH40k-style bunker

http://www.toposolitario.es/workshop/index.html - a 16x16 letter format-gaming mat as well as a container-landscape is available here PLUS instructions on how to create stuff from more than paper. Great site!

http://www.stones-edges.com/freesamples - crates and doors

http://raidersbloodserpent.blogspot.com/search/label/terrain... - a Tau (WH40k) Obelisk

http://www.momirfarooq.com/ - Stuff for the star wars miniature game, however generic enough to fit anywhere

http://www.swminiatures.com/2007/01/09/endor-3d-bunker/ - An endor bunker. As much as I get it, you need to register in order to DL this one. Registration is free, however

http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=cat&id=8 - Two guntowers and other fluffy stuff

http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=... - Swedish TV tower

http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=... - Very simple modern block house

http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=... - Anti-tank barriers

http://www.mcguirezone.com/goodies/space_station.pdf - a cartoony space station

http://93.174.141.45/~iwarpm/html/models.htm - Scroll down for "cargo pods" that would be good scenery

http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2028/list_45_2.html - Simplistic, modern, cartoony buildings

http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/3148/03312/index.html - Modern telescope building

http://www.papiermodelle.de/papercraft/architektur/gebaeude.... - Many modern buildings

http://www.shelter-systems.com/modle.html - Very simple geodesic domes (would be easy to apply your own textures)

http://web.mac.com/michaelhaggard/ALBIONRISING/Game_Minis.ht... - A bit of Warhammer 40K-inspired stuff here

http://www.swminiatures.com/2007/01/09/hoth-tower-and-turret... - Hoth turret from Star Wars

http://louistaylor.wordpress.com/2009/12/21/how-to-make-your... - WH 40K drop pods

Here are some 6mm sci-fi buildings originally designed for Battletech, you may need to upscale them for what you want.

Hi.

I doubt you'll find exacly what you want but you might search here :
http://papercraftparadise.blogspot.com/

Note:
As fas as I know (and I've done quite a bit of google search), there are very few (no?) good quality free paper models for SF gaming terrain.
EDIT: My mistake, there's Toposolitario !

In any case, if 2 models have the same dimensions (1 über-cool model, the 2nd that sucks monkeys balls), and you print them with the same parameters, they will consume the same amount of ink. Hence, same printing cost. So, if I were you, I would go for Worldworks (or similar) products, the quality/price ratio is unbeatable (And it's cheap, especially considering the €/$ rate, so please re-consider that option). The other solution would be to do your paper models yourself. You can start with simple "cubes", and use textures available on the net. You'll need time and a bit of skill, but that's the cheapest you can do.

Bye.

I definitely think you should do some searches for "papercraft" with other terms, like "sci-fi," "terrain," and "buildings."

This is what I came up with pretty quickly:
A bunch of sci-fi buildings: http://www.dp9.com/index.php?option=com_jotloader&view=categ...
Warhammer 40k bunker: http://www.rengels.de/warhammer/articles/bunker/index.html

And a lot of unfortunately dead links in forums to stuff that sounds pretty cool. :/

Good luck!

"papercraft" is a cool keyword .. didn't lead me to what I was looking for in the first place, but to lots of other interesting stuff instead

(who would have thought, that the wizards themselves would distribute such amazing pnp-stuff?)

any further suggestions are still welcome

This is my favorite site for free paper scifi terrain. It has some really nice buildings and vehicles for an industrial setting. Some of the site is in Spanish but it is pretty easy to follow.

You can find a few things here too.

I made the castle wall a few years ago, it was much bigger then I expected it to be.

Under the "Recortables - Paper Models" column, just click on any of the links. Try IKUBE since that is where you can get a lot of buildings fast. If you keep scrolling down past the written and then video instructions, you should see a section titled "PDF file format downloads". Under that there are different color options, each one with a link that says "Right-Click to download the PDF file" Hope that helps.

Here are direct links to the PDF files but there is much more than this (including multiple colors for most models) on the site:

OMG!!

I regarded IKube as rather dull containers .. now as you stressed them out, I saw cool bungalows

Thanks for the links

Glad to see you liked my idea I've done a bit of papercraft, and think it's a lot of fun, so I encourage other people to do some, too! I don't know how much experience you have with it, but it helps if you use somewhat thicker paper, since it's sturdier. Too thick, though, and it's too hard to do small, complex folds.

Here are some more links, which are more or less suitable depending on what flavor of sci-fi you're going for. Besides scale, another thing to consider is the complexity of the models. The more complex, obviously the longer each model will take. So simpler models are good for things you need a lot of, and the complex things could be "centerpiece"-type terrain. Anyway, I hope you find some of the following links useful!

Could maybe use the Panther turrets at the top of this page: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=cat&id=8
Real-life Swedish TV tower that looks really interesting: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=...
Very simple modern block house: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=...
Anti-tank barriers: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=...
A simple-looking "space station" that could be used to make several buildings with little modification, it looks like: http://www.mcguirezone.com/goodies/space_station.pdf
Scroll down for "cargo pods" that would be good scenery: http://www.iwarpapermodels.org/content/index.htm
Simplistic, modern, cartoony buildings: http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2028/list_45_2.html
Incredibly complex buildings (not really sci-fi... but maybe they would fit in some universe?): http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2025/list_45_1.html
Modern telescope building: http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/3148/03312/index.html
Many buildings, including modern homes and a watertower, as well as some urban stuff: http://www.3dpapermodel.com.tw/freedownload/download-asp/lin...
Many modern buildings: http://www.papiermodelle.de/papercraft/architektur/gebaeude....
Very simple geodesic domes (would be easy to apply your own textures): http://www.shelter-systems.com/modle.html
A bit of Warhammer 40K-inspired stuff here: http://web.mac.com/michaelhaggard/ALBIONRISING/Game_Minis.ht...
