This happened in a game awhile back...2 player game, both players played out most of their cards during earlier rounds, and when it came to the last round, no one had enough of one type of artist to "end the round" (the 5 cards, which includes the face up card). What happens?

The way we played it was whichever artists had the most cards out were allocated the 3,2,1 tokens. I had to burn all of my remaining cards so I officially ran out of cards (the other player had already run out of cards), and even still there were no artists with 5 cards showing.

What rules are you playing?

Seems like this shouldn't happen, unless you're not dealing out enough cards to start, or after each round.

I've only been playing the iOS version,
but the games between the 3 AI players and I
often see only 6 to 12 cards come out in the first
or 2nd rounds. My goal is to play 3 cards into
1st place or 2 into 1st and 1 into 2nd, in the first round.
And I usually only play extra round end cards
from the 2nd round, if the card will score 5 or more points.
The 3rd and 4th rounds are where you want to putting more
cards on the table for high scoring opportunities.
A few times when we've butted heads over which of the
5 artists are going to the top three, enough cards have
come out that all of us have run out of cards in the 4th round.
However, personally, I don't like playing a card that isn't going
to score, so I'd rather look for a way to play cards
to stay in the winning groups.
