Yeah that's a pain. Until the bug can be fixed, you can change the characters that don't work by URL encoding them (see: HTML URL Encoding Reference)
I replaced the ü with %FC in the URL and used the [ url= ] [ / url ] tags, but then used the actual title of the page rather than the URL as the descriptor
