A recent post with links to Wikipedia articles reminded me of an annoying bug. The BGG forum software doesn't link correctly if the URL contains non-ASCII characters.

E.g.:

Direct link works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Dresden_in_World_War...
But fails with non-ASCII ü: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Lübeck_in_World_War_II

Trying with the [ url= ] [ / url ] tags also doesn't help:
The url tag works with the first URL...
[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Lübeck_in_World_War_II]But the second URL still fails this way as well...[/url]

Yeah that's a pain. Until the bug can be fixed, you can change the characters that don't work by URL encoding them (see: HTML URL Encoding Reference)

Bombing of Lübeck in World War II

I replaced the ü with %FC in the URL and used the [ url= ] [ / url ] tags, but then used the actual title of the page rather than the URL as the descriptor
