Agreed. The "presence" is established by the disposition on the planning boards as revealed after the planning phase. Changes that occur later cannot alter the planning. Deployed troops stay deployed, and taking over a noble via bribery does not allow the "re-disposition" of troops...

Deployments must be legal during the planning and deployment phases. The bribery phase (phase 6) doesn't happen until *after* all troop dispositions have been planned, paid for and transferred to the main board.

It follows that you cannot rely on a bribe to succeed in order to give you presence in an area to make an attack there legal, and that a successful bribe cannot make another player's earlier deployments illegal.
