Well, it was my wife that found it really. 'Communication in Catan' - Googling comes up with mentions of it but only on a Japanese website and a brief mention on a German site that is short on details. It looks to be a promotional version of Settlers made for Alcatel but I'd be keen to know more about it.
There are some pictures I've taken here...
Does anyone know anything about it? Where there lots made for different companies? Can I list it here as a new game and earn some GG? Should I put it in eBay
And what are these extra bits?
I haven't played Settlers in ages but I don't remember any parts in the original that correspond to these. Does anyone recognise them from another game?
I have no idea what that is, but it reminds me of those numerous Monopoly knockoffs (no, not valid games like Anti-Monopoly, I'm talking about those cheap Monopoly ripoffs you can see, themed for universities or cities or whatnot, as opposed to Disney characters, Muppets, or Lord of the Rings).
Just the blockiness of the fonts... *shudder*

Found some information here:
Looks like it was a licenced version given away as a promotional item at CEBit 1999/2000. Vanilla settlers, but you're building communications relays. One twist to the rules, you can pay to use another player's network; which I assume means you can build a village off his/her roads. The extra bits are from the cities and knights expansion. Looks like it's even rarer than the Whiskey Settlers set, though not so pretty and without the free Whiskey miniature, so ebay would be a good option.
A wise man may do some research first, and see if he can notify the main collectors that the auction is taking place somehow. With something sufficiently obscure, it can make the difference between a few quid, and a few hundred quid.
