You can't rob Peter, Paul and Mary to pay yourself.

In April, 2007 I filed a protest to a wrongful cancellation of my 2006 homestead exemption.

I recently received a notice that my hearing has been scheduled for next week.

If it falls on me and pins me underneath it, does that still count as seizing the day?

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

Isn't there an old quote that says: "The wheels of justice grind exceeding slow, but they grind exceeding fine."?

Sounds like you got the city hall version of that.

Good question; we'll see.

And just to clarify: my homestead exemption was re-established the next tax year, and has been since; so, it's only the 2006 tax year that's in dispute.

I understood that, but the overpayment that you made has accrued interest for them government and they should pass on that interest to you!

An ash I know, Yggdrasil its name. With water white is the great tree wet; thence come the dews that fall in the dales. Green by Urth's well does it ever grow.

We won the protest of our 2006 taxes, and will be getting back any excess taxes paid. However, they didn't mention paying interest on that excess. But, it just goes to show...

YOU CAN FIGHT CITY HALL!

...or something like that.
